DOJ Charges Two In NY Terror Plot
February 25, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Two suspects [Zarein Ahmedzay and Adis Medunjanin] in the 2009 NY subway terror plot led by Najibullah Zazi were scheduled to appear in federal court today facing a five count indictment.

Among the most serious charges is conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction against persons or property in the United States.

Says AG Holder,"The facts alleged in this indictment shed further light on the scope of this attempted attack and underscore the importance of using every tool we have available to both disrupt plots against our nation and hold suspected terrorists accountable for their actions...this attack would have been deadly, and the many agents, prosecutors and intelligence professionals who worked together seamlessly to thwart it deserve our thanks."

The two face additional charges which include providing material support, including currency, training, communications equipment and personnel, to a foreign terrorist organization, namely al-Qaeda.

If found guilty on all counts the two could be facing as much as 35 years in federal prison

New Book Reveals Hamas Double Agent Saved Scores of Innocent Lives

February 25, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Mosab Hassan Yousef's long journey out of the dark world of terrorism began in 1996 when he joined the Israeli Shin Bet state security organization after being jailed. In 1999 after losing his faith in Islam he converted to Christianity.

The details of that trek are set forth in Yousef's book "Son of Hamas," which will come out next week.

Yousef is the son of senior Hamas terrorist Sheikh Hassan Yousef making his rise to power in the organization less complicated than might necessarily be the case and providing the sleeper agent with sufficient information to have helped disrupt dozens of terrorist bombings.

As detailed in yesterday's edition of Haaretz [see, Adventures of the Green Prince, http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1152398.html] Yousef excelled at his counter-spy trade noted one of his handlers at the time, "Let me tell you a story," Loai continues. "One day we received information that a suicide bomber was going to be picked up at Manara Square in Ramallah and be given an explosives belt. We didn't know his name or what he looked like - only that he was in his twenties and would be wearing a red shirt. We sent the Green Prince to the square and with his acute sense, he located the target within minutes."

With the publishing of Yousef's book some of Hamas' inner most secrets have now come to light, a boon for Western intelligence agencies and a huge blow for the most pernicious single enemy Israel must face on a daily basis.

Muslim American Society Splinter Group - Muslim Americans for Palestine [MAP] - Adopts Radical Palestinian Viewpoint

February 24, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - According to widely accepted terror authority Steven Emerson's, Investigative Project on Terrorism, the Muslim American Society is closely tied to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood:

"The Muslim American Society (MAS) is an organization with strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood...The Muslim Brotherhood founded by Hassan al-Banya in 1928, has provided the ideological underpinning for almost all modern Sunni Islamic terrorist groups..." [source, http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/44.pdf]

Given this degree of closeness, MAS' breast-beating claims of moderation ring hollow, so it is not surprising that its sister youth group, Muslim Americans for Palestine, would embody the same level of animus towards the West and especially towards Israel.

From the MAP website, "Muslim Americans for Palestine (MAP), a Project of the Muslim American Society (MAS) was established in 2009 to be a source of accurate information to the public at large, to repel and challenge propaganda and discrimination against Palestinians and to bond our community with the significance of Palestine in Islam." [source, http://www.mapalestine.org/home.html]

If MAP's recent convention was as described by Susan Schwartz writing for the Muslim Media Network [see, http://muslimmedianetwork.com/mmn/?p=5611] then the group is simply another Jew bashing operation led by immoderate Muslims.

As Ms. Schwartz notes, a statement by MAP speaker Reem Salahi claimed she "...spoke of “white flag murders", that is the murder by Israelis of innocent civilians whom they had ordered out of their homes and who had complied and exited waving white flags. In at least six incidents the Israelis shot them in cold blood."

Such assertions are part and parcel of radical Palestinian politics as is the absurd notion that Muslims somehow have a legitimate claim - trumping Israel's - to Jerusalem, a city they have renamed al-Quds.

On that subject we refer to Daniel Pipes' excellent 2001 treatise in the Middle East Quarterly - The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem [http://www.meforum.org/490/the-muslim-claim-to-jerusalem].

Pipes quickly established the multi-thousand year hold that the Jewish nation has on the ancient city.

"The Jewish connection to Jerusalem is an ancient and powerful one. Judaism made Jerusalem a holy city over three thousand years ago and through all that time Jews remained steadfast to it. Jews pray in its direction, mention its name constantly in prayers, close the Passover service with the wistful statement "Next year in Jerusalem," and recall the city in the blessing at the end of each meal...in addition, Jerusalem has had a prominent historical role, is the only capital of a Jewish state, and is the only city with a Jewish majority during the whole of the past century. In the words of its current mayor, Jerusalem represents "the purist expression of all that Jews prayed for, dreamed of, cried for, and died for in the two thousand years since the destruction of the Second Temple."[source, ibid]

Likewise Muslim counter-claims are dealt with rather harshly.

"...Jerusalem appears in the Jewish Bible 669 times and Zion (which usually means Jerusalem, sometimes the Land of Israel) 154 times, or 823 times in all. The Christian Bible mentions Jerusalem 154 times and Zion 7 times. In contrast, the columnist Moshe Kohn notes, Jerusalem and Zion appear as frequently in the Qur'an "as they do in the Hindu Bhagavad-Gita, the Taoist Tao-Te Ching, the Buddhist Dhamapada and the Zoroastrian Zend Avesta" - which is to say, not once..." [source, ibid]

This prompts the obvious question of why Jerusalem, "...being of such evidently minor religious importance, why does it now loom so large for Muslims?"

The answer being, "Politics, not religious sensibility, has fueled the Muslim attachment to Jerusalem for nearly fourteen centuries; what the historian Bernard Wasserstein has written about the growth of Muslim feeling in the course of the Countercrusade applies through the centuries: "often in the history of Jerusalem, heightened religious fervour may be explained in large part by political necessity."104 This pattern has three main implications. First, Jerusalem will never be more than a secondary city for Muslims; "belief in the sanctity of Jerusalem," Sivan rightly concludes, "cannot be said to have been widely diffused nor deeply rooted in Islam..." [source, ibid]

It seems that MAP, like MAS will continue to advance ill disguised anti-Jewish falsehoods based upon what they judge to be political exigencies despite the reality that such claims fail to hold in the crucible of truth.

Grassley Letter Forces AG Holder To Admit That At Least 9 DOJ Attorneys Represented GITMO Terrorists or Filed Amicus Briefs on Their Behalf

February 25, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Finally responding to a November request by Charles Grassley [R, IA] and other Senators to identify which current DOJ attorneys either represented [or advocated for via submission of amicus briefs] Islamic terrorists before coming to the administration, or came from law firms who supplied pro-bono legal services to them, AG Holder continues to stonewall, refusing to identify - outside of the two DOJ lawyers whose work on these cases was already public knowledge - who within the department have represented terrorists.

The situation is neither academic nor does it represent a fishing expedition, as some of these same DOJ attorneys are engaged in shaping American anti-terror policy and their previous work may well indicate a level of bias unacceptable when dealing with sensitive national security issues.

Below the operative section of Holders letter, the entire text can be accessed at [Administration Refuses to Answer Questions About Government Employees Working on Guantanamo Detainee Issues at the Justice Department, http://grassley.senate.gov/about/upload/Judiciary-02-19-10-response-from-DOJ-on-Gitmo-recusals.pdf]

"With regard to the specific requests in your letter, the Department does not maintaincomprehensive records of such information about individual Department employees. We have, however, obtained information responsive to your interests from the Office of the AttorneyGeneral, the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, the Office of the Associate AttorneyGeneral, the Office of Legal Counsel, the Office of the Solicitor General, the National SecurityDivision, the Civil Division, and the Criminal Division. To the best of our knowledge, duringtheir employment prior to joining the government, only five of the lawyers who serve as politicalappointees in those components represented detainees, and four others either contributed to amicus briefs in detainee-related cases or were otherwise involved in advocacy on behalf ofdetainees. None, as far as we are aware, did so as registered lobbyists. Others had noinvolvement in representing detainees or other entities in detainee cases, but came to theDepartment from law firms where other lawyers represented detainees, often on a pro bono basis.(It is not surprising that this should be the case: as best as we can determine, of the 50 largestU.S. law firms, at least 34 have either represented detainees or filed amicus briefs in support ofdetainees.) Among senior Department leadership, the last category includes the AttorneyGeneral, the Acting Deputy Attorney General, the Associate Attorney General, and the AssistantAttorney General for the Criminal Division. In addition, the Assistant Attorney General for theCivil Division previously represented one Afghanistan detainee, and his former employer represents other detainees..." [source, http://grassley.senate.gov/about/upload/Judiciary-02-19-10-response-from-DOJ-on-Gitmo-recusals.pdf]

We noted in a February 2009 article, [see, https://www.pipelinenews.org/2009/Former-Partner-Of-Eric-Holder's-Law-Firm-Represents-Cole.html] that one of Holder's former associates at his law firm, Covington and Burling, David Remes, represents Abd al Rahim al Nashiri [a suspect in the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Aiden, Yemen] as well as 14 other terrorist detainees. Al Nashiri [born in Saudi Arabia] is part of a group of 15 Yemeni GITMO detainees who are also represented by David Remes, a member until he was either booted or saw the handwriting on the wall and "resigned" on July 18, 2008, of Attorney General Eric Holder's law firm, Covington & Burling.

As the law firm's announcement of Mr. Remes' departure read, "Remes, who represents 15 Yemeni detainees, announced his resignation on July 18, saying that he plans to devote himself exclusively to human rights litigation. "My departure is the inevitable outcome of my human rights work at the firm in the past four years, which became a consuming passion," Remes said in a statement." [source, http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2008/07/16/to-protest-gitmo-punishment-covington-parnter-drops-trou-in-yemen/]

National Review's Andy McCarthy, as always, provides trenchant insight into such matters, detailing how the penetration of the DOJ by what is for all intents and purposes the pro-terrorist bar - an outcome driven by Eric Holder - has complicated the disposition of important terror cases and in general further sullied the AG's already near legendary reputation for incompetence and poor judgment.

"Also touted is the firm's [note: Covington & Burling, Holder's former law firm] key role in the 2006 Hamdan v. Rumsfeld case, in which the Supreme Court invalidated the Bush military commissions. The lead counsel for Salim Hamdan - Osama bin Laden's personal driver and bodyguard - was Neal Katyal, a former Georgetown law professor who is now the Justice Department's Deputy Solicitor General. Holder's Deputy Attorney General, David Ogden - whose clients included child-pornography producers and pro-abortion extremists - worked at a firm that represented three enemy combatants and that figured prominently in Boumediene v. Bush (2008), in which the Supreme Court granted the alien detainees a U.S. constitutional right to challenge their detention in civilian federal court. The problems go well beyond Holder, Ogden, and their top staffers (drafted from these same firms).[*] Similar conflicts plague, among others, Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli (DOJ's No. 3 official) and the chiefs of both the Criminal and Civil Divisions, Lenny Breuer and Tony West (the latter volunteered his services to represent John Walker Lindh, the so-called "American Taliban," a U.S. national now serving a 20-year sentence after making war against his country)." [source, Who are the GITMO 9?, http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MmYzNzM5ZmJiMWQ3N2U1YmU0YzYwZWU2NGFmNDdkOTk=]

The degree to which radicals of every stripe have actively been solicited to join this president's team is unprecedented. The fact that this information is finally seeping into public consciousness represents very bad news for an administration whose efforts to impose an extremist agenda have awakened the defenders of American traditionalism and clouded the fortunes of Democrat legislators as November 3 rapidly approaches.

Prospect of Dutch Pullout in Afghanistan Gratifying to Al-Qaeda and Taliban

By EMERSON VERMAAT

February 25, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - "This a indeed great victory for our holy warriors! The Dutch are the first to withdraw from Afghanistan. Allah be praised! This is only the beginning. Other infidel crusaders are bound to follow soon and the country will be ours once again! Praise be to Allah! We defeated the Russian infidels back in 1988. Then, it took less than ten years to throw them out. We'll now defeat the criminal gang in the White House and all those who alligned themselves with them against the Muslims! Praise be to Allah!"

Just imagine we are at Al-Qaeda Headquarters somewhere in Pakistan. Just imagine a high ranking Taliban leader listening to what a top-level Al-Qaeda member told him about the Dutch being the first to withdraw from Afghanistan. The above comments may be fictitious but I have no doubt at all that they are entirely in conformity with the Al-Qaeda/Taliban way of thinking.

Our enemies today are not very different from the enemies back in 1939-'45 - not very different from the equally fanatical German Nazis and Japanese, that is. Like today's Muslim suicide bombers, the Japanese had no fear of death, and the Nazis admired them for it. They 'are ready to die' ('todesbereit'), a Nazi paper wrote about the arrogant and extremely fanatical Japanese warriors whose only God was their holy emperor. (Fortunately many things changed after Japan was defeated.)

My sister Annelies died in a Japanese concentration camp in 1944. I never saw her because I was born a few years after the war. My Swiss-educated mother and my two brothers barely survived the camp. My father later told me he was a Japanese death row inmate. My uncle was also about to be executed by the Japanese. (He saved his life by making a nice portrait of the camp commander in full military uniform.)

Mind you, the same Japanese were the very first to introduce suicide attacks by planes - Al-Qaeda copied their silly 'kamikaze' methods on 9/11. In the face of such a deadly and merciless enemy, weakness will be fatal, as it was back in 1939-'45. Once again, it is a war worth fighting and there will be, as British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchil said in 1940, 'blood, toil, tears and sweat.' 'This is a time for everyone to stand together, and hold firm, as they (i.e. the Nazis, V.) are doing,' Churchill said on September 11, 1940. These words could and should have been repeated on September 11, 2001.

Our enemy today is equally, if not even more fanatical and more committed to overrunning weak nations and eventual world conquest. They believe that, some day, their fascist version Islam will rule over the world.

Despite their strange racial prejudices, the German Nazis deeply admired fanatical Muslims, as if they were fellow fascists. Nazi SS-leader ('Reichsführer') Heinrich Himmler founded a special Imam School in Nazi Germany saying he needed fanatical imams, not moderate ones. And in January 1944 he said, in the presence of Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels: 'I have nothing against Islam for it promises that those who fight and die in battle will go to heaven. This is a practical and sympathetic religion for soldiers.' Were he still alive today, Himmler would, no doubt, admire the numerous and silly suicide bombers who also believe they'll go straight to heaven.

Dutch Labor Party: unilateral withdrawal is now the only option

Back to Holland...what happened there in the early morning hours of Saturday, February, 20? The Dutch coalition government of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), the smaller 'Christian Union' (CU) and the Social Democratic Labor Party (PvdA) fell over the war in Afghanistan. The center-left Dutch Labor Party demanded that all Dutch forces leave Afghanistan before the end of the year. The other two coalition partners as well as NATO and president Barack Obama want the Dutch forces to stay, and to extend this highly successful military mission in the unruly Afghan province of Uruzgan. These Dutch forces are assisted by badly needed F-16 fighter planes.

Now that the government has fallen over the issue, the Dutch mission in Afghanistan will come to an end this year. An extension is out of the question now. The Dutch will be the first to unilaterally withdraw from Afghanistan, and both the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are quite happy about it. Our enemies, no doubt, expect other nations to follow suit.

The Dutch Labor Party made its withdrawal demand in the very week when the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) started to launch a major offensive against the Taliban in the hotly contested Afghan province of Helmand. 'This is fully in line with Taliban tactics,' writes Jan van Benthem, a Dutch commentator on international affairs. 'The Taliban announced in 2007 that they would target the parliaments in NATO countries. "We are sure that we will gain the victory. Western Parliaments will protest asking why are our sons dying in Afghanistan? This means we will eventually defeat them."' Interesting quote, don't you think?

What happened in Spain after Al-Qaeda terrorists struck in Madrid in March 2004? (There is new evidence that Al-Qaeda was indeed involved in the attacks.) The elections were won by the Social Democrats who opposed Spanish military presence in Iraq and all Spanish forces were subsequently withdrawn.

Eva Ludemann and Mark van Assen point out that the Dutch will be the first to withdraw all their troops. 'It is feared that this will produce a domino effect. The Dutch role in Afghanistan is important and its 1,940 strong force is located in Uruzgan, a province of vital importance to the Taliban, and consequently to ISAF.' 'Only the Taliban are happy about it.' Australia has already announced it will not fill the gap.

Participation in the Afghan war is a controversial issue both in Europe and North America. There is war fatique everywhere, even in Australia. President Obama announced he plans to withdraw the bulk of US forces by the end of next year, thus publicly announcing to a ruthless and mortal enemy that there is no long term American resolve.

Mient Jan Faber played a major role in the Dutch peace movement in 1980s. He is currently Professor of 'Human Security in War Situations' at Amsterdam's prestigious Free University and as such opposed to Dutch withdrawal from Afghanistan. He even accused the Dutch Labor Party of 'escape behavior,' 'defeat.'

Traditional Dutch neutralism and pacifism

There is a strong neutralist and pacifist tradition in Holland, especially in leftist circles and leftist political parties. Before the Second World War, leftists, pacifists and other idealists were opposed to reinforcing the Dutch army and navy. They preferred a policy of military weakness, neutralism and unilateral detachment. This proved fatal in May 1940 when the Nazis occupied Holland as well as in February 1942 when the weak Dutch navy lost the battle against the superior Japanese navy in the Java Sea. Subsequently, the Netherlands East Indies (today's Indonesia) was occupied by the brutal and merciless Imperial Forces of Japan.

It was in the 1970s and 1980s that Dutch leftists - communists, socialists, Christian leftists - joined the anti-NATO 'peace movement' which was basically a continuation of traditional neutralist and pacifist tendencies in Dutch politics. Influential members of the Dutch Labor Party strongly sympathized with the peace movement, although communist calls to leave NATO were ignored by them. The so-called 'New Left' was making deep inroads into the Labor Party, which was a major cause of concern for the Christian Democrats from the CDA party as well as for conservative liberals from the VVD party (Joris Voorhoeve, Frits Bolkestein, Jaap Rietkerk, and others).

The above mentioned Mient Jan Faber played a leading role in the Dutch peace movement at the time. But after two successful NATO interventions in the Balkans (Bosnia and Kosovo), he quickly changed his mind. In 2003, he was one of the very few influential leftists who supported the invasion of Iraq which he regarded as a kind of 'humanitarian intervention' (military intervention with a view to delivering a nation or country from a brutal dictator - an old concept in international law). The Dutch Labor Party was strongly opposed to the Iraqi invasion, but the ruling Christian Democratic Party supported it - leading to yet another clash between Christian Democrats and Social Democrats.

Today, the same Dutch Labor Party finds it very difficult to resist calls for a total break with NATO policies vis à vis Afghanistan. They now want to give in and leave that poor country as quickly as possible. Although they deny it, of course, they don't seem to care about the outcome of such a fatal decision. 'Let others do the job,' they say. A very lame argument indeed. It is, as Mient Jan Faber correctly points out, 'escape behavior' and 'a victory for Al-Qaeda and the Taliban.'

Pure party politics at its worst

Why did the Dutch Labor Party force a cabinet crises over this issue right now? They supported Dutch troop deployment in Afghanistan, the so-called 'Task Force Uruzgan,' when it began in 2006. They also supported a cabinet decision to renew the Dutch military commitment in 2007 - provided it would be for two years only. They were one of the three ruling parties in the coalition government. In the second half of 2009, the CDA was pressing for another extension of the Afghanistan mission. Dutch military presence and aid turned out to be rather effective, to discontinue the mission now would certainly not benefit the local population, Dutch CDA Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende and CDA Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen, argued. They were supported by the Christian Union coalition party but not by the Labor Party.

The leader of the Dutch Labor Party, Deputy Prime Minister Wouter Bos, agreed, however, that Verhagen would discuss with NATO Headquarters in Brussels 'possible options' for a continuation of the Dutch mission in a different manner. It was agreed that NATO would first have to make a formal request to that effect. When NATO complied with that requirement, prominent Labor Party politicians quickly said they remained totally opposed to the continuation of the Dutch military presence in Afghanistan. However, Bos and at least one other Labor Party minister agreed with the two other coalition partners on Friday 12 February, 'to keep options open.' Indeed, this was also the contents of a formal Netherlands Cabinet Ministers' letter to NATO. Five days later, on Wednesday 17 February, Bos suddenly vetoed any further discussion on this issue. For some reason, he was now in a hurry and pressed for a negative response to NATO's request before the self-imposed deadline of Saturday, 20 February. Naturally, Balkenende and Verhagen were not amused. Consequently, the coalition government fell on Saturday around 3:30 a.m. I saw it happen on Dutch TV.

Why was Bos in such a hurry? It was because of party politics. The fate of the Afghan people was subordinated to domestic considerations of pure party politics at its worst. There will be municipal elections in Holland on March 3, and the Labor Party was not doing well in the polls. Bos felt that a tough stance on Dutch troop withdrawal would improve the party's prospects in the elections. Indeed, after he and his party left the coalition government, polls showed a slightly more favorable result for the party.

But this is not it. Bos was also a fairly able Minister of Finance. He knew quite well that tough austerity measures will have to be taken in the course of 2010 - of the kind that Greece is belatedly taking right now. By leaving the Dutch government now, Bos and his party will escape immediate responsibility for unpopular government budget cuts and austerity measures. There is a 35 billion euro deficit which is rapidly growing. (It will soon be 50 billion if nothing is done.)

The strain of massive non-Western immigration

Last but not least, there is the huge problem of the rapid and unwelcome influx of asylum seekers from countries like Somalia and Iraq, costing the Dutch tax payer a huge amount of money. It all began in 2007 when the Labor Party successfully pressed for the regularization of 26,000 asylum seekers whose applications had previously been rejected by both the Justice Ministry and Dutch courts.

The issues of immigration and the economy will be the most important topics of the parliamentary snap elections in June. The Dutch Labor Party has a vested interest in continuous immigration from non-Western countries since most non-Western immigrants vote for leftist parties. City councils dominated by the Dutch Labor Party and other leftist parties continue to provide illegal immigrants with accomodation and money. (In the city of Groningen, for example.) The longer these illegal immigrants stay in Holland, the less likely they are going to leave, and once 'regularized,' they will, no doubt, soon join the ranks of Labor or Green Party voters.

In several Dutch cities there are even election posters in Turkish and Moroccan. By the way, most Muslims in Holland are also opposed to the military intervention in Afghanistan. Some day, native Dutch might wake up and discover it is no longer their own country they are living in. There were about 75,000 non-Western immigrants back in 1972, in 1996 there were more than half a million and early 2009 the number had even risen to 1,8 million. This exponential growth puts a huge strain on society, not just in Holland but in the rest of Europe as well. Jack A. Goldstone even claims that 'current levels of immigration from developing to developed countries are paltry compared to those that the forces of supply and demand might soon create across the world.' Additional mass migrations are to be expected from Africa and the Muslim world and more of the same will not help to solve our already immense problems.

I do not agree with Goldstone's simplistic conclusion on page 42 that mass immigration 'can serve as a safety valve for all.' (In other words, we must open our borders and let everyone in.) See, for example, what is happening in the no-go areas in North American cities, where Latin American drug violence and honor crimes have been exported to the US and Canada. The banlieus of Paris are just another example. In Britain, the bulk of terrorist plots originate in the Muslim community. In Holland, hospital staff and even police officials are receiving death threats from Moroccan or Turkish family members or other non-native criminals who say: 'I know where you, your wife and your children live.' (More than 2000 incidents occurred in Dutch hospitals last year, doctors and nurses are terrified.) In Brussels, Albanian gangs are distributing kalashnikovs with the equally terrified police not being able to do anything about it.

David Harmer [CA 11] Campaign Kickoff At Standing Room Only Event

February 24, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Invoking a Reagan Era spirit of optimism, David Harmer, candidate for California Congressional District 11, today kicked off his campaign at a packed breakfast event held in San Ramon, California.

Calling the upcoming November election, "the most consequential election in thirty years," Mr. Harmer related his experience as a young volunteer for Ronald Reagan, "thirty years ago in July of 1980 I was on the floor at the Republican National Convention in Detroit when Ronald Reagan accepted the nomination for the presidency of the United States."

That experience seems to have forged Harmer's political philosophy in the Reagan ideal of limited government at an early age.

In today's hard hitting speech, delivered without notes, Mr. Harmer chided the current regime as having turned away from America's founding principles. The solution he offered consists of a return to the, "tried and true principles which are as old as the nation itself," while posing the question, "in another thirty years, will our children still be free?"

Saying that question wasn't hyperbole, he characterized the upcoming elections as being "a test of national character," featuring, "two dramatically different world views."

He said the Democrat's pursuit of ever bigger, more intrusive government over the last two years, hastening under Obama, has forever, "abolished the myth of the moderate Democrat."

Mr. Harmer identified in rapid-fire manner some of the most problematic aspects of president Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid's philosophy, criticizing the Democrat approach. He attacked the current healthcare legislation as an effort to "create a top down, command and control one size fits all bureaucratic monstrosity."

On cap and trade he stressed that the administration's intent is to, "increase costs...to create artificial scarcity just to fit some utopian's notion of how we should live," adding almost parenthetically that, "we don't have resource problems, we have regulatory problems."

Noting the congressional district's rise in joblessness when, "unemployment is pushing 20% if you count discouraged workers," Harmer asked why we were still, "spending money we don't have on programs we don't need."

The candidate's call to action was not wasted on the enthusiastic audience, nor was his return to the common theme to, "liberate the people," from an out of control government which has grown out of touch and unresponsive to the needs of the people.

With GOP and Democrat registration in the district tied at 39% each and with Independents quickly moving away from the president, it seems that David Harmer's candidacy is for real and his chances of electoral victory in November better than average.

Big Time Democrat Special Interests Mount Stealth Campaign Against Whitman

February 16, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Alarmed at California GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman's omnipresence in the state's media markets, a bevy of Democrat heavy hitting insiders is mounting a significant pushback.

Three groups comprise the effort, the Democratic Governors Association [DGA] , Level the Playing Field 2010 and California Working Families 2010. The first advertising blitz should hit the airwaves shortly.

DGA is based in Washington, DC which might in some circles raise the specter of "outside" interests meddling in CA politics.

As Capitol Weekly notes about the developing campaign, "A new independent expenditure committee backed by labor groups and other major donors is coming together to boost Jerry Brown and other Democratic candidates across the state... The Working Families coalition is expected to include labor unions including the California Conference of Carpenters.. It will be run by several political operatives with close ties to the Obama administration. Among them, Larry Grisolano, a partner in the Chicago-based political firm AKPD, where Obama political guru David Axelrod is a partner..." [source, http://www.capitolweekly.net/article.php?_c=ymfa5d7izjxlyd&xid=ymetxslr5i5n50&done=.ymfa5d7izkhlyd]

Ron Burkle, the multi-billionaire who runs the politically linked in Yucaipa Company figures to be a funder also, "...Others involved in the group include Frank Quintero, who works for Burkle's Yucaipa Company...". [source, ibid]

The Capitol Weekly piece also mentions that Axelrod's former partner Grisolano is tied into the SEIU, meaning that the embattled CA labor union might figure prominently in the anti-GOP advertising gambit.

The Los Angeles Times has done yeoman's work uncovering the activities on the SEIU, noting many improprieties, "A spending scandal at California's largest union local spread to a second state Monday as the head of a sister labor group in Michigan stepped aside because of a widening financial inquiry. The Service Employees International Union said that Rickman Jackson, who formerly served as chief of staff at the California organization, has taken a leave of absence from its biggest Michigan local less than a week after the president of the Los Angeles chapter relinquished his post." [source, Los Angeles Times, August 26, 2008, SEIU finance inquiry spreads, http://articles.latimes.com/2008/aug/26/local/me-union26

The controversial SEIU is headed by the equally controversial Andrew Stern about whom Discover the Networks notes darkly, "Stern was trained in the tactics of radical activism at the Midwest Academy, which was formed by former Students for a Democratic Society members Paul and Heather Booth. This Academy was created to teach leftist community organizers how to promote social change and infiltrate the labor movement." [source, http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1830]

Regardless of how one might view the effort by these groups to influence the upcoming gubernatorial race, their claim of merely providing balance against a wealthy candidate ring particularly untrue given the far greater resources these players bring to bear.

Widespread Pak Anti-Americanism Demonstrated in Effort to Repatriate Aafia Siddiqui

February 23, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Convicted in NY just a few weeks ago on terror charges [see Pakistani Scientist Convicted in NY on Terror Charges] Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has become a cause célèbre in her native Pakistan.

Siddiqui, born in Pakistan but educated in the United States, was convicted in Judge Richard Berman's Southern New York District court on seven counts including attempted murder of U.S. citizens and U.S. officers and government employees. She was also found guilty of possessing a firearm in the commission of these crimes. Throughout the trial Siddiqui's court demeanor verged on the bizarre, haranguing the court with outbursts, especially directed at Israel, "This is a verdict coming from Israel, not America—your anger should be directed where it belongs. I can testify to this and I have proof." [source, http://www.law.com/jsp/nylj/PubArticleNY.jsp?id=1202441940762&]

Since the conviction, numerous - primarily anti-American - street demonstrations throughout Pakistan have demanded that Ms. Siddiqui be returned to her home country, where she would presumably be rewarded for having carried out a limited jihad against the United States.

Pak president Zardari has approached U.S. special envoy Richard Holbrooke, claiming that the return of Siddiqui would "improve relations" between Pakistan and America.

The "relationship" - such as it is - between the nuclear armed Muslim nation of nearly 200 million and America has been "strained" over widespread concern that it isn't serious about battling Islamic radicalism and that elements of the country's intelligence service - the ISI - have actually taken part in various terrorist attacks, especially against its arch-rival India, and are working hand-in-glove to aid Afghanistan's Taliban.

If one is looking for evidence that president Obama's America bashing Muslim charm offensive has been effective one had better steer clear of the image presented by Zardari groveling at the feet of Holbrooke hoping to secure the release of terrorist Siddiqui, because that scene offers a disturbing vignette into the dark heart of Pakistan and by proxy, the Muslim world.

Powerful New Film - Crossing the Line - Details Rise of Anti-Semitism on Campus

February 22, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - A new film Crossing the Line - the Intifada Comes to Campus has debuted in an effort to call attention to the increasing prevalence of Anti-Semitism and Jew bashing on North American college campuses.

Crossing the Line shows how students and professors have used the mechanism of radical Palestinian politics to mask their basic anti-Semitic world view.

The film also explores the linkage between the Muslim Student Association and Egypt's seminal propagator of global jihad, the Muslim Brotherhood.

Below a short clip:

Crossing the Line was produced by Raphael Shore whose other works - Relentless: The Struggle for Peace in the Middle East, Obsession: Radical Islam's War against the West and The Third Jihad: Radical Islam's Vision for America have served to call attention to the ongoing jihad being waged by radical Muslims. It was directed by Wayne Kopping, and distributed through Imagination Productions.

The Future of Education in America

"Future schools will be centers for family and social services as well." - William L. Lepley, Dir. Iowa Dept of Education

By CAMILLE GIGLIO

February 22, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The above quote by William L. Lepley was contained in an eye -opening article on education for the future written in the early 1990 's and entitled: 21st century schools will offer learning for all citizens. He was making predictions for the year 2010 most of which seem to be coming true.

Among several revealing predictions he listed,"students evaluations will improve. Instead of grades, students will be assessed not on the work they complete but on the skills they master. Community service will be a graduation requirement." Community service is already a graduation requirement in many schools, especially private and religiously affiliated schools. Right now there are 14 public and Charter schools designated as International Baccalaureate Schools offering Certificates of Mastery rather than traditional graduation diplomas.

He added,"Open enrollment will allow students to attend different schools to take advantage of a particular curriculum or offerings at that institution. Students will move out of the system without barriers such as district boundaries, grade levels, neighborhood locations or regulatory restrictions."

In January the California Governor signed a state version of the federal Race To The Top legislation calling for, among other things, "open enrollment" and suggesting that the understanding of neighborhood will become much broader. It was also suggested by Assemblyman Mark Wyland 's legislative Aide s of regionalization of 6 or more states with California to establish core career technology standards.

AB 35, Workforce Development by Assemblyman Warren Furutani has passed the state Assembly with insufficient opposition and awaits its first hearing on the Senate side. The state legislature currently has 14 active workforce development type bills before it. So far only California Right to Life has submitted a letter of opposition. We received a phone call from the legislator 's Aide asking, with incredulity in his voice, how we could possibly be against such a wonderful opportunity for young people who, for the most part, will never be college material, to be employable when they graduate? The thinking in Sacramento and Washington is very elitist. They declare that they are only concerned about the inequality between the poor who can 't do anything for themselves and "rich" kids who have everything given to them.

Lepley wrote a more recent article in conjunction with A. James Jones, Director of Learning Technologies, Milton Hershey School, Hershey, Pa. and printed in the Technos Quarterly, spring 1996 vol 5 No1 edition. This article entitled Pay Now or Pay Later reflects his previous thoughts and sets out Lepley 's vision of schools as centers for technology training which will be the "great equalizer of all society focusing on shared values."

Here he declares that "If we believe that we are all created equal, as the Declaration of Independence states, then we must seriously address the growing divide between the information "haves" and the "have nots." To secure the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in 21st century America, a poor child with little or no family support will need more nurturing and help with education than our nation has been willing to provide so far in this (20th) century Technology can help."

Today the schools have completely embraced equality and diversity training into every facet of school life. Programs such as Character Counts or values training is taught as a subject in many schools.

Lepley is not alone in his enthusiasm for and promotion of science and technology as the greatest saver of mankind since penicillin.

Consider this 32 page publication by the Education Commission of the States; National Center for Learning and Citizenship, published June 30, 2008, entitled Workforce and Civic Development.

It is not enough in the eyes of bureaucrats that one receive a good academic education while in one 's developing years. The outcome of that education must include a commitment to the public and humanistic virtues of global citizenship, community involvement and the selection of a career that benefits the state and its Race To The Top in global competition.

The NCLC provides a bureaucratic definition of workforce and civic education which is:

  • Cooperation, collaboration and coordination with local and national businesses
  • Strategic thinking and learning
  • Incorporation of and adaptation of information technology
  • Global awareness
  • Financial literacy
  • Written and verbal presentation skills
  • What constitutes the desired knowledge and skills for the 21st century?

  • Engaged, active participation for self and community interests
  • Sense of equity, justice and fairness=pluralism (respect for and commitment to the rights of others and well -being of society)
  • A sense of personal responsibility
  • Ability to utilize technology
  • Leadership skills
  • Financial and market literacy
  • You may recognize the mantra of the Gay Rights and Planned Parenthood agenda in this list.

How will all this be transferred from the elitist minds of the Washington, D.C. Think Tanks to the local classrooms? Through the creation of state P -20 (or P -16 Councils) which are made up of policymakers, education leaders and business leaders. The mission of these councils is to create one smooth, flowing, education system from kindergarten to post -secondary education and beyond. first, through legislation and Executive Orders at state and federal levels, States are being organized to reflect one set of educational core standards within each state. This is where the Race To The Top federal funding for education comes in. The federal government is buying out the educational interests within states and local communities. The deal being we, the Feds, will give you money to run your schools, you give us your children.

Next six or more states will be organized into regional education neighborhoods reflecting the economic goals and workforce needs within those states. This is one form of regionalized or sustainable development governance. Former President Clinton signed Sustainable Development legislation for the United States which exactly reflects similar initiatives around the world in countries most active within the United Nations Community.

During the late 1980 's and early 1990 's George H.W. Bush introduced a new and innovative set of educational goals. Sen. Ted Kennedy and others promoted it and it became No Child Left Behind which firmly established the role of the federal office of Education in what has traditionally been local educational offices.

NCLB has never been completely accepted by parents and educators due to the recognized demise of parental and local control and so media plants have reported that it was fading away to be replaced with Race To The Top in order for local educators to regain control of their schools.

We learn through a briefly worded article at the back of the Washington Post of 2/18/2010, that a bipartisan committee of House Republicans and Democrats are planning to "rewrite the No Child Left Behind education law." Now, we realize that NCLB was just one step in the slippery slope of centralization of education further placing education within the domain of an elite few at the federal level.

This was a goal first brought to light in the 1980`s, by Rep. Bob Schaeffer that Hillary Clinton, in partnership with Mark Tucker of the National Center for Education and the Economy - NCEE, had developed a plan to nationalize standards, tests, curriculum and databases of student achievements. Certificates of Mastery, replacing diplomas, came with it.

We now hear from some parents that their students while in high school are taking some college courses which will place them directly in colleges in an apparently seamless manner. Parents proclaim this as wonderful indicating that their child is somehow above the average student. In reality this was all planned in the 1980 's by the NCEE and the Clinton/Tucker partnership.

Today Marc Tucker is an advisor to the U.S. Department of Education addressing the issues of how to implement this whole NCLB/Race To The Top program which is being lapped up by public, charter and private schools desperate for the federal tax dollars that come with it.

California has a P -16 statewide Council that works in conjunction with a statewide Workforce Investment Board (created through federal legislation) working to bring all school districts into line with this master plan. One interesting member of this P -16 council is Jed Wallace, President and CEO of the California Charter Schools Association.

There is even a place for parents in all this re -formation of education. We will become partners with the schools. Education Week 's October 2009 Spotlight Publication focuses almost entirely on Parental Involvement and how educators and teachers can create an atmosphere of encouragement for parents to become partners with the teachers in creating little future workforce entrants.

In the publication Spotlight on Parental Involvement, Larry Ferlazzo reveals how he insinuated himself into students homes. One might even say that he brags about how he "got to know my students." Mr. Ferlazzo spent the first 19 years of his working life as a community organizer before becoming a high school teacher.

The Parent Teacher Home visitation Program was his entry into the privacy of families. The outcome of his visitations resulted in parents forming partnerships with the school guaranteeing that they would help their children remain in school (no loss of ADA here from school dropouts) with the added result of bringing parents to the attention of service provider agencies in the community. He admits that he also got extra pay for doing this.

What I have attempted to bring to your attention is referred to by some as a system of Programming, Planning and Budgeting - PPBS. This is a very scientific and analytical approach to programming people and communities through meticulous planning in the same manner that one would organize the natural and animal kingdoms. It places total reliance on the ability of some human beings to organize other human beings using an appeal to human nature with psychological, behavioral, emotional and scientific calculations, budgeting, to achieve the desired outcome of a peaceful, compliant, contented world. This scientific approach understands that at the beginning of this planned and globalized world there will be confusion, anxiety, and resistance from the subjects. People will be put through a series of events that result in voluntarily giving up certain freedoms for the presumed greater good of a better world. The current catch phrase is "best practices."

Already we read in the media of dire warnings against the "rightwing conspirators" who are being placed in the category of terrorists; Tea Party members, pro -lifers, gun -owners, immigrants, welfare families, people of faith. These, according to the government mantra, are not individuals seeking to exercise their God given and Constitutionally protected rights, they are groups seeking to deny equality to others.

The Government is attempting to make us an offer we can 't refuse. They are saying; just let us determine for you the best practices in health care, education, employment, housing, transportation, security, family size and lifestyle decisions and you will be happy, healthy, educated, employed, housed and we can do this without the aid of any God. We just need you to give up your freedoms and your money to do it.

Dutch Government Falls Over Afghan Troop Commitment, Will Move Kill NATO?

February 22, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - With Dutch PM Balkenende's government having fallen again, this time over the country's failure of will to maintain a skeleton commitment [approximately 2,000 - 1,600 combat troops 400 working in support roles - who, when they fight, do so under extremely limited rules of engagement] as part of the NATO effort in Afghanistan.

What worries U.S. officials about the government shakeup is whether the development might lead to a domino effect, ultimately scuttling the NATO presence in Afghanistan altogether, at precisely the time when U.S. forces have started the long anticipated push-back against the Taliban and remaining al-Qaeda elements.

With electorates long dominated by the left [witness less that 15% public support for the NATO commitment in either Britain or Germany, see, http://www.csmonitor.com/World/2010/0222/Dutch-government-collapse-Will-other-European-troops-now-leave-Afghanistan] the possibility of a NATO breakup over the question is very real.

If this happens it will end the historic post World War II common defense pact between the Continent and America, only the latest sign of the ossification and cultural decline in Europe.

If the Dutch proceed with the plan to end their role as part of NATO, they will follow the Spanish, who in the wake of al-Qaeda terrorism made a similar move in 2004.

A possible winner in the political uncertainty in the country might be MP Geert Wilders an outspoken critic of his country and Europe's failure to resist Islamic radicalism.

Shocked and Amazed - State Department Discovers That Iran Might be a Dictatorship

February 16, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Given the negative direction American foreign policy has drifted in the space of a single year under team Obama, it would be foolish to underestimate this administration's witlessness.

That said, Secty of State Hillary Clinton's revelation today that "by gosh," Iran might not be democratic and it just might be heading towards dictatorship [military...led by the Revolutionary Guard Corp] is among the most vapid things yet to come out of team Obama.

That level of ignorance, at the same time demonstrates what a ridiculous choice Hillary Clinton was for Secty. of State.

"We see that the government of Iran, the supreme leader, the president, the parliament is being supplanted and that Iran is moving toward a military dictatorship."< [source, Los Angeles Times, Iran moving toward military dictatorship, Clinton says, http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/la-fg-clinton-iran16-2010feb16,0,1406253.story]

Of course the problem goes much deeper than individual incompetency, it's systemic.

If her analysis holds any water at all, Hillary's thesis [no doubt signed off at the highest levels in the West Wing] must be based upon the proposition that since the creation of the Mullocracy in 1979, the Islamic dictatorship that has seemingly dominated the country for over 30 years now has actually been subject to the will of the people, exercised through the Iranian parliament.

As a result, it now comes apparently as a total shock to State that the legislature doesn't really call the shots in Iran, and this development might lend itself to a corresponding lack of freedom in the country.

One might have hoped that this crowd would have taken the hint, judging from the river of blood flowing in Tehran's streets, perhaps Mrs. Clinton and her oafish handlers need a brief history lesson.

In 1979 the Carter administration [the patron saint of the current DC brain-trust] created the Iranian Revolution, so let's lay the big egg in the appropriate nest, Barack and Hillary's party.

"We just don't get it. The Left in America is screaming to high heaven that the mess we are in Iraq and the war on terrorism has been caused by the right-wing and that George W. Bush, the so-called "dim-witted cowboy," has created the entire mess. The truth is the entire nightmare can be traced back to the liberal democratic policies of the leftist Jimmy Carter, who created a firestorm that destabilized our greatest ally in the Muslim world, the shah of Iran, in favor of a religious fanatic, the ayatollah Khomeini. [see, Jerusalem Post, Jimmy Carter, Father of the Iranian Revolution, http://www.sarafrazan.net/jimmy%20carter%20and%20khomeini.htm]

In 1979 Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was a member of the Revolutionary Guard [the Basij militia], as are many other key power players in Iran.

The corps's alumni hold dozens of seats in Parliament and top government posts. Mr. Ahmadinejad is a former member, as are the speaker of Parliament, Ali Larijani, and the mayor of Tehran, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf." [source, New York Times, Hard-Line Force Extends Grip Over a Splintered Iran, http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/21/world/middleeast/21guards.html]

The Guard has been in service of the Islamic revolution from the beginning.

"From its very start, therefore, Islamic Republic law made the Revolutionary Guards not only a military organization deterring foreign threats but also a political-military organization tasked with fighting domestic opposition... The Islamic Republic leadership has continuously used the Guards to suppress internal dissent. Khomeini actively employed the Revolutionary Guards to coerce and, when necessary, crush former political allies as he consolidated power within the revolution's broad coalition." [source, AEI, The Revolutionary Guards' Role in Iranian Politics, http://www.meforum.org/1979/the-revolutionary-guards-role-in-iranian-politics]

The Guard has historically micro-managed Iran's internal affairs, to the extent of even vetting local political candidates a function of the power hinted at by the groups' more formal designation, "The Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution."

It would have been impossible for the Mullahs, the faux civil government under Ahmadinejad and the Revolutionary Guard to have co-existed for this period of time had not their basic world view been identical.

"The July 25, 1981 issue of Payam-e Enghelab [note, the Guards official publication] defined "the two main tasks of the Guards" as "guarding the principle of government by the supreme jurist and the principle of jihad." Therefore, the article concluded, "the Guards cannot be robbed of a political dimension or ideological beliefs." [source, ibid]

One would hope that the State Department, Hillary Clinton and the man with his feet up on the desk in the oval Office, might have been aware of this information, that Iran is truly a revolutionary state, motivated by a sense of Islamic jihadism, and that regardless of how you characterize the regime, the impossibility of effectively dealing with it diplomatically should have been obvious.

Ditto the fact that the Revolutionary Guard has always served as the regime's attack dog and ultimate guarantor.

At this late stage in the game - when Iran has already declared that it can enrich uranium to 20% purity, that it intends to bring an additional 10 reactors on line shortly to speed the process of producing sufficient fissionable material, that it clearly envisions creating a nuclear arsenal the first target of which presumably will be Israel and after signing a deal with Hugo Chavez to not only secure more uranium ore but use Venezuela as the Southern anchor for a pincer move threatening the United States - to quibble over whether Iran is a military or a religious or secular dictatorship is so indicative of the sheer idiocy of this administration's foreign policy, that the very mentioning of it by Mrs. Clinton today in Lebanon [question, how did her hosts choke back the guffaws?] should instill genuine fear in any observer of these things as should this administration still clinging to the idea that the United Nations is anything but Iran's enabler and firewall.

Final note, this item just crossed the wires, "Prince Saud al-Faisal told a news conference in the Saudi capital that the threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions demands a more immediate solution than sanctions...The Saudi minister spoke at a joint appearance with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton...U.S. officials traveling with Clinton said privately they were uncertain what al-Faisal meant" [see, Saudi official questions new sanctions on Iran, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100215/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_clinton_saudi_arabia_4].

It seems the Saudis not only get it but they have no aversions to embarassing Hillary in public [she's used to it my now] to drive home the point. The fact that the statement is considered undecipherable by the Foggy Bottom boys, provides all the punctuation necessary for the foregoing narrative.

The Problem With Islamic Broadcasting Networks And Islamic Schools In The Netherlands

    By EMERSON VERMAAT

February 15, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - A new Islamic broadcasting network, the Netherlands Muslim Broadcasting Foundation or SMON, has recently been granted permission to broadcast in the Netherlands. There were lots of problems with previous similar Muslim networks, and it may not be very different this time. Chairman of the new network is Radi Suudi, a Dutch Palestinian and a wellknown defender of Palestinian causes. I once visited him in Amsterdam to discuss Middle Eastern issues. I remember he even demanded money for the information provided by him. 'Time is money,' he simply said. He may be right, but very few people I talked to in my long journalistic career, ever asked for money.

SMON was initiated by the Dutch Union of Moroccan Mosque Organizations and the Dutch branch of the World Islamic Mission (WIM). However, Mohammed Anas Noorani Siddique, the spiritual leader of WIM, is a radical cleric from Pakistan. He strongly condemns a moderate and liberal Islamic sect called the Ahmadiya. 'I would rather die than consider them to be Muslims,' he said in September 2006. SMON chairman Suudi claims that Siddique's organization will not be able to influence the content of TV or radio programs. The broadcasting board and the journalists will be independent, he says. I am not so sure about this.

Another dubious supporter of Suudi's broadcasting network is a Dutch Moroccan named Mohammed Cheppih. Although Cheppih nowadays presents himself as a moderate Muslim, he once publicly applauded Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, Palestinian suicide bombers and propagated corporal punishment. I remember he showed an intense interest in several major Dutch terror trials back in 2002 and 2003. He also played a role in the fundamentalist Al-Fourqaan Mosque in the southern Dutch city of Eindhoven where he had many friends. Two of his friends traveled to the Indian part of Kashmir at the end of 2001, presumably to join the Islamic jihad. Cheppih was then chairman of the controversial Muslim World League (MWL). Cheppih got his theological training in Saudi Arabia. His Saudi professor Abu Bakr El Jezeiri, an arch conservative Muslim theologian, published the book 'The Path of the Muslim,' in which he called for the public execution of gay men by throwing them from the highest roof in the city. In addition, El Jezeiri told his followers: 'Adulterous' women must be stoned to death. He also advocates the death penalty for Muslims who convert to Christianity, Judaism or communism. (El Jezeiri's book was translated into Dutch and made readily available by several mosques and Islamic bookshops.) Cheppih has now publicly distanced himself from such radical views but is there any guarantee that he is not just another Tariq Ramadan, a man he strongly admires but who, unfortunately, has a reputation of being rather double-tongued?

SMON chairman Suudi claims Cheppih won't be able to influence the contents of SMON's TV programs either. But, once again, there is no guarantee. 'Should journalistic independence ever be affected, I'll be gone,' Suudi said.

Another controversial friend of Suudi's is Frank William, a fairly moderate Dutch-Surinamese Muslim. In 2008, Suudi and Frank founded a new Muslim broadcasting organization called 'Zenit.' Among those who supported the new initiative was the controversional Dutch-Surinamese defense lawyer Gerard Spong. Mr. Spong is one of the strongest advocates for prosecuting Geert Wilders for 'hate speech.' Wilders is a Dutch parliamentarian who once compared the Koran to Hitler's 'Mein Kampf.' I would not do so myself, nevertheless, this is a free country where Christianity has also been the subject of mockery and total rejection. Nobody ever took those who ridiculed Christians and their beliefs to court. Yet, Wilders is currently on trial in Amsterdam, and I am afraid the usually liberal and politically correct Amsterdam judges will convict him, regardless of what his lawyer, Mr. Bram Moszkowicz, will argue.

Back to Radi Suudi and Frank William. Their broadcasting initiative 'Zenit' never managed to attract sufficient interest, so another organization – SMON – was founded in 2009. Who is Frank William? He is a former director of one of SMON's predecessors, the 'Netherlands Muslim Broadcasting Network' (NMO). William's role as NMO director was very dubious indeed. He had a reputation of being corrupt – which not uncommon among people with roots in Surinam and Afro-Surinamese culture. Frank William, his wife and son were arrested early November 2009 on suspicion of fraud and accepting bribes involving more than 600,000 euros. Mr. William sometimes boarded a plane carrying 20,000 euros in cash. The NMO accounting system reportedly was a mess. William also favored his own wife and son. He reportedly accepted bribes from TV production companies in exchange for receiving work assignments. He was involved in costly lawsuits and other scandals – costing the Dutch tax payer huge amounts of money. Keep in mind that the NMO was part of the Dutch public broadcasting system, so is SMON today. Mr. William, a strong supporter of 'multiculturalism,' ran the NMO as his own private company. A rival Muslim Broadcasting organization, the 'Netherlands Islamic Broadcasting Network' (NIO), was equally involved in scandals and expensive lawsuits. A lot of tax payers' money was wasted on lawsuits, settling quarrels and fraudulent practices.

Islamic schools in Holland: segregation, poor performance, fraud and trips to Saudi Arabia

So-called Islamic schools in the Netherlands have been a constant source of concern for the authories ever since their inception in the early 1990s. Bad management, poor quality teaching, hostility towards the West and Western values such as the emancipation of women are, unfortunately, not uncommon. There are now more more than forty primary schools and two secondary schools ('Ibn Ghaldoun' in Rotterdam and 'Islamic College' in Amsterdam). As early as January 1992, the Dutch politician Jan Franssen issued a strong warning against the 'islamization of our school system' as well as further segregation of Muslim children. He said:

'What worries me primarily is that we are putting Muslim children into quite separate schools, when they are part of a minority group in Dutch society which is in a most vulnarable position socially, economically and from the point of view of the community, and which we are trying hard through a minorities policy to integrate into Dutch society, and to give them the same opportunities the Dutch have. I am very much afraid that with a further growth in the number of Muslim schools to a hundred or so, also continued in secondary education, this segregated development within a closed-in culture which is in no way related to Dutch society, will lead to tensions in the future.'

Seventeen years later, Dutch philosopher and historian Wim Klever observed that 'Islam is becoming influential and uses the school system.' 'The system of education in the Netherlands is creating an orthodox Muslim movement in the population that is defiant of today's Western standards,' Klever says. 'We are now facing the invasion of a new and very forceful religion' and 'the rapid growth of the (Muslim) population.'

The problem primarily is that most Muslim immigrants in the Netherlands have a rather backward rural Moroccan and Turkish culture (niece-nephew marriages, honor crimes, etc.). To say so in the nineteen eighties and nineties was then invariably regarded as 'racism' and 'discrimination' – an outright assault on the unshakable liberal dogma of 'multiculturalism.' (Today, however, few people in Holland deny this is just a fact.) Proper financial accounting, for example, is not particularly the strongest skill of first and second generation immigrants from Muslim countries and Africa. In November 2008, a Dutch school inspection report said that most Islamic schools are still causing serious problems. Their boards of governors do not know how to spend money properly and more than 50 percent of the Islamic schools were performing poorly. In the southern Dutch city of Helmond, for example, ill performing and usually conservative school governors who were guilty of financial mismanagement initially refused to step down. It was only after they had been forced to to so by a Dutch court verdict that they did what was required of them. Yet, one million euros had been lost.

Muslim school governors like to travel to Muslim countries or use the school's money to simply enrich themselves or their family members, the Dutch government and school inspectors found in 2008. Between 2001 and 2007, 235.982 euros were spent on 'excursions' to the holy sites in Saudi Arabia, the school inspectors reported. It was discovered that at least 86 percent of the Islamic schools were involved in fraudulent practices misusing Dutch government money. Mind you, Islamic schools in Holland are also heavily subsidized by the government – tax payers' money, that is. Dutch taxpayers' money has been wasted on hobbyistic trips to Salafist Saudi Arabia.

One of the most problematic Islamic schools is 'As Siddieq' in Amsterdam. Fenny Brinkman, an idealistic former Dutch female teacher there, published a critical book on 'As Siddieq' in 2005. She claims that the school's highly conservative board of governors seeks to impose non Western values on the pupils. Teaching about the Holocaust and the persecution of Jews, for example, is 'haram' ('not allowed' or 'forbidden'). Jews are bad, Hitler is not. One should not be too surprised about the fact that, for some reason, Hitler and the Nazis are still (!) very popular in many Muslim countries. As Jeffrey Herf, a noted American historian, recently pointed out in a brilliant study, Nazi propaganda to the Arab World during World War Two was more effective than some people assume. Indeed, there are striking parallels between the Nazi anti-Semitic tenets and today's Islamist anti-Semitism.

Although the As Siddieq's board of governors promised that things would change, very little has indeed changed since 2005. In August 2009, a letter from another former female teacher was published by the Amsterdam newspaper 'Het Parool.' She claims that the Islamic school 'As Siddieq' still does not adhere to the principle of respect for other cultures. Only the Muslim culture is acceptable.

Lodewijk Asscher, the Amsterdan city alderman of Education, decided to stop subsidizing the school with half a million euros. 'As Siddieq' refused to give in and threatened to challenge Asscher's decision in court. Just before the case was brought to court, Asscher gave in claiming that the school was willing to meet a number of requirements. (Making all kinds of promises is very typical of such people.)

One of the Islamic primary schools that is performing better is 'Noer,' based in Rotterdam. Director Ed Coors, who is native Dutch, does not shy from raising topics such as the Holocaust and what happened in World War Two. There is no obligation for female pupils and teachers to wear a headscarf, and many don't. But Coors admits that is not very easy to convince conservative Muslim parents of the need for a more open attitude and to be more open to other cultures. For this reason, his school is very small, many Muslim parents still seem to prefer the traditional ways and views.

It is not unusual for Islamic schools to have native Dutch teachers – apart from Muslim teachers. However, religious instruction is exclusively being given by devout and conservative Muslims who often sympathize with the kind of Islam one finds in Saudi Arabia.

Ahmadinejad Declares Iran a "Nuclear State"

February 11, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Against a backdrop which finds the Western world in a state of paralysis and denial regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions, today the country's dictator, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that Iran had succeeded in enriching uranium to a weapons grade level.

The boast accompanied a statement yesterday again threatening Israel saying that it should be destroyed now, "once and for all."

The announcement was made on a day in which anti-government demonstrations were planned across the country, especially in Tehran. Though reports are still spotty coming out of the country it appears that government action designed to limit access to the city by the protesters was largely successful.

Towards that end, the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday reported that Iran's telecom chief has jammed internet access to Google's Gmail service in an attempt to further hamper communications among anti-government forces.

Of note, while the Obama administration has been extremely reluctant to show any support for the demonstrators, despite them having been brutalized by Iran's thuggish security force, the State Dept. was quick to denounce the tampering with Google.

"Workforce Development" Legislation Continues to Flow

    By CAMILLE GIGLIO, Legislative Analyst

February 11, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - House Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid have both sworn that, regardless of opposition, they will see the passage of Health Care Reform no matter how high they have to jump or low they have to crawl - or, into how many pieces of legislation they have to break the monster into before you swallow it all.

In the mind of the bureaucrat a person needing health care is not a patient. That person is a consumer of a health care industry services, mainly preventive services. To these types, all a person has to do is resign themselves to womb to tomb care in exchange for the promise of a guaranteed outcome producing healthy happy workers and community volunteers who need not rely on themselves because the government does it all for you.

The main reason that strong objections have arisen around the health care package has been the recognition that it is a mandated nationwide master plan controlled and developed by bureaucrats for bureaucrats not for the health care industry and certainly not for the benefit of individuals.

While we are all being distracted by this obviously important debate, legislators across the country have found another pathway for obtaining their objective of centralized control of citizens lives. That route is through the development of what is referred to as workforce development and/or Career Technical Education - CTE.

If the people are ill and in need of government infusions of assistance so is the economy, ailing and in need of large doses of bureaucratic ObamaWorkforce legislation.

Republicans have resisted the health care route to nannified government but they are being drawn into that mindset through womb to tomb jobs programs as seen in the recent Race To The Top federal education funding legislation. This funding contained within the budget of the ARRA will be given in the form of grants to cash strapped states willing to change the traditional central role of education from one of academic superiority under local and parental control to nationalized core standards of entry level workforce and technology training mediocrity.

On December 14, 2009, the California Department of Education distributed a news release # 09-164 entitled: Memo of Understanding for RTTT. State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell and state Secretary of Education, Glen Thomas together released a statement announcing that California is included in the (federal)Race To The Top strategic plan accepting the national requirements for local education agencies participation.

The release stated, in part: ""Race to the Top is prompting an historic undertaking with the potential to change the face of education in California," O'Connell said. "By investing in state and local systems that will accelerate and drive growth in student achievement, Race to the Top represents our state's best chance to engage in the fundamental reforms that are needed to develop our workforce and fuel future innovations. We are now asking local education agencies to collaborate with the state and with each other in unprecedented ways. It won't be easy, but by joining as a group of committed educators focused on providing the opportunity for all children to reach their full potential, we know we can win this race."

[Note] The position of Secretary of Education is rather obscure. The Secretary seems to change from year to year. There have been 5 Secretaries since its inception about six years ago. Secretary Thomas has hung around just long enough to approve this Race To The Top ponzi scheme, resigning on 2/10/2010.

There are, in the U.S. Congress, one-hundred-thirty-two (132) Workforce and/or Career Technical Education bills. Often with one legislator authoring more than one bill. Only five are authored by Republicans. However, a large number of Republican legislators have a business background. They are anxious to see citizens gainfully employed. Republicans are voting for this legislation. Across the country in the various states there are a total of 1130 workforce/CTE bills in play.

In California since 2009, of the workforce bills that have been submitted, eleven have been signed into law, forty-four have failed and 18 are still active. Everyone of these bills seeks to amend or add to several California civic business, education, child welfare and labor codes.

Several bills reflect the requirement that the state greatly expand its data collection and analysis capabilities referred to as digital technology. Individual, personal data collection is required for preschool and K-12 students as well as Secondary education programs, small businesses, etc.

Child Care services are now being placed under education programs as the government takes over setting up goals and outcomes for child care placing these services within the context of school facilities. It is child baby-sitting, it is now considered early pre-K education.

Educational standards are being re-formed to reflect national core standards which means, basically, United Nations standards for global education. The core standards, referred to as STEM - science, technology, engineering and math are replacing the emphasis formerly given to reading, writing, etc. which are only considered as important on a need to know basis in order to do the STEM work with emphasis being placed on using these standards to prepare students for future workforce required positions. Classes in history, english, writing, etc will only reflect back on the core programs. Certificates of Mastery are back in the vocabulary again, meaning everyone, obtaining a certificate of accomplishment will be guaranteed a job. The emphasis on STEM education reflects the global race for the leadership in industry placing American students into direct competition with children of foreign countries for global jobs.

The funding provided for this education will be used to channel children's interests into those workforce planned jobs desired for their sustainability of the local community, especially "green" entry level jobs sometimes referred to as "clean technology." We just don't yet know the meaning of local or its corollary, neighborhood. For your child or grandchild his neighborhood may be the entire state or six state region.Schools will also be used as One-stop shopping Career centers. Students will not have to go anywhere except to the school for all their needs, including nutrition and health care.

Everybody works. Adult seniors will not be left behind. Retired people accepting the idea of life-long learning will be encouraged to return to the school room (if they are not already there) in order to obtain the proper outlook on becoming a volunteer in a community service organization. HR 1928, Kagen, Home Health Care Workers and S. 811, Daniel Inouye, Workforce Psychological Education Act, to serve older adults. Also, HR 2205, Donnie Davis (D-Il) Early Childhood Home Visitations.

Health care workers, HR 330, Barbara Lee, (D-Oakland) not doctors or nurses) are being sought in ever increasing numbers as more senior citizens presumably request companionship. One Social Worker was overheard to state that she hoped that one day every (senior) citizen would have a mentor. This should be the clearest indication that the bureaucrats have not given up on universal health care.

A likely scenario for the future will be one in which every individual is assigned a health home, as its called. Federal legislation seeks to upgrade the position and authority of Pharmacists to become what I would call gatekeeper health care workers. People will be encouraged to seek their preventive-type health care services at the drug store before being referred on to an actual doctor.

Obama's emotional pitch for creation of more small business development will be achieved through stimulus money given to the states and directed for the most part to disabled veterans and others for creation of low income (green) businesses which will be given equal status in state and local contracts with larger contracting companies. Released and former jail inmates will be given special needs attention to equip them for jobs.

How about your local knife wielding gang banger as the health care worker who gives you your FDA approved flu shot or hands your surgeon his surgical tools in the OR?

Schools desperate to get added funding will be forced into partnerships with businesses, community agencies and be required to prepare their students for specific workforce jobs, including stem cell research and development.

Nationally it is now recognized [though seldom reported] that embryonic stem cells as cures for various diseases is light years away while adult stem cells are healing heretofore incurable health problems but California's embryonic stem cell industry hasn't heard of that yet.

Charter schools are also competing for Race money and acknowledging their willingness to dispense with some local independent control in order to be become eligible. Even some Catholic Schools are considering becoming charter schools to get the funds and students they so desperately need. But, they won't be able to teach Christian values only the values reflected in the humanistic Character Counts tax supported programs. See: Social and Emotional Education, An International Analysis - CASEL.

If it could be summed up in a few words, scraping away the emotional fairy tale aspects of improving students future access to jobs, health care, clean environments, etc, the billions of dollars being directed from federal taxes to local communities is a huge federal buyout of the states authority to Govern. Federalizing education, jobs and healthcare makes Governors little more than mouthpieces for the federal government and servants out of all the states citizens.

Robert Ford Awaiting Senate Confirmation as Syrian Ambassador

February 9, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Pending confirmation by the U.S. Senate, Robert Ford is slated to become ambassador to Syria, restoring diplomatic ties with the Bashar al-Assad led government broken in 2005 when Syria's involvement in the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri was strongly suspected.

Ford is considered by some [see, http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE61258F20100203]d to be part of the "Arabist" contingent at State, a pejorative term meaning diplomats who some believe are pro-Arab [gone native] in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because the extensive experience they have in the Middle East has led them to a pro-Palestinian bias.

Ford has wide experience in the Middle East. A fluent Arab speaker, he has most recently served in Algeria with previous service in both Iraq and Lebanon.

He will come on station at a critical time, when Iran, Assad's prime benefactor, is coming under not only Western but Arab pressure because of its threatening nuclear stance.

"The two day visit by the king - his first since he took power in 2005 - will focus on unrest in Lebanon and the Palestinian Territories, where political rivals backed by the two countries are wrangling over power. The Saudi monarch and close US ally is also seeking to nudge Syrian President Bashar al-Assad out of Iran's diplomatic orbit toward closer cooperation with fellow Arab states." Demands for State Funded Muslim Only Schools in Britain Grows Louder

    By William Mayer

February 8, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The London School of Islamics [LSI, created in 1981] is a British Muslim pressure group [it bills itself as "an educational Trust"] whose mission statement reflects an ambitious agenda.

"1. The aim is to make British public, institutions and media aware of the issues of the Muslim community in the field of education and possible solutions.

    2. To help with social, personal, emotional and educational issues and problems.

    3. To provide marriage guidance and counselling. [sic]

    4. To find divorcees, widowers and disabled persons partners for marriage." [source, http://www.londonschoolofislamics.org.uk/ArticleView.asp?article_id=14].

Floating above these laundry list issues looms what seems to be the LSI's real emphasis, goading the British government into underwriting the Islamification of the country, starting with its schools.

"The demand for Muslim schools comes from parents who want their children a safe environment with an Islamic ethos. Parents see Muslim schools where children can develop their Islamic Identity where they won't feel stigmatised for being Muslims and they can feel confident about their faith. Muslim schools are working to try to create a bridge between communities. There is a belief among ethnic minority parens [sic] that the British schooling does not adequatly [sic] address their cultural needs. Failing to meet this need could result in feeling resentment among a group who already feel excluded. Setting up Muslim school is a defensive response." [source, http://www.londonschoolofislamics.org.uk/DiscView.asp?mid=43715&forum_id=3&]

Rather than promoting a "bridge" between Britain's aggressive Muslim population and the larger society, it seems far more probable that the establishment of state-funded Muslim schools will quickly see them devolve into Muslim-centric enclaves which will inevitably lead to further schism, a lever really by which the state could be used to fund its own remaking according to a Shari'a compliant template.

Such a conclusion is entirely supportable given the concluding paragraph of the foregoing justification for government run Islamic schools, "There are hundreds of state schools where Muslim pupils are in majority. In my opinion, all such schools may be designated as Muslim community schools with bilingual Muslim teachers. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school." [source, ibid]

Adding additional substance to such a claim, the LSI recently distributed a media advisory - Broken Britain - the content of which, more than simple criticism of Britain, serves as an indictment of Western society, the charges being applicable cross-culturally.

"Britain has a broken society. This is a dark portrait but it is very true. Children are left to rot and they grew into animals. Binge drinking, drug addiction, a culture of disrespect and antisocial behavior, teenage pregnancies and abortions, knife and gun culture are part and parcel of every day life in all big city centers. The teenage pregnancies and the sheer madness of sex education teach nothing about morality. British society is suffering from unprecedented social decay and societal breakdown, according to the Children's Society shocking evidence. Britain has more broken families than other countries. British children are rougher with each other, and live more riskily in terms of alcohol, drugs and teenage pregnancies. Britain's rate of teenage pregnancy is the highest in Western Europe. According to official figures, nearly half of all babies are now born out of wedlock. They are more likely to suffer social, mental and emotional problems. Research has revealed that migrants in Britain are more likely to have children within marriage. The teaching of sex education could not curb teenage pregnancies. Infact, it has simply increased. This is a clear indication of broken society. It is an eye opening for the Muslim community who sends their children to state schools with non-Muslim monolingual teachers.

In broken Britain, the break downs of family are ripping apart communities. According to a report, Scottish schools like English schools have become home for rapes, gun and knife culture, drug dealing, gang culture and racism. It is a horrendous portrayal of the collapse of civilized life and of human despair. Carrying weapons is becoming the norms, violence is "routine" and families are terrorized by gangs. Every parent is worried about his child being indoctrinated into the idea that gay and sexual promiscuity is "normal" modes of behavior. Homosexuality was regarded as mental illness but now blue eyed western educated elites are its defenders and promoters. The spectre of hidden epidemic of sex crimes inside Britain's classrooms has emerged after Scotland Yard revealed there have been nearly 900 rapes or sex attacks in schools. The vast majority of victims were school children under the age of 16. As many as one in three were under 11. According to official figures, hundreds of children under the age of 12 were treated for addiction to drink and drugs.

Children are being taught that sexually transmitted diseases could be easily treated and there is no acknowledgement of the emotional harm of premature sexual activity. The truth is that more sex education and contraception are provided to children and teenagers, the more they fall pregnant. Studies have shown that access to contraception and sex education, sexual activity and conception and pregnancy rates go up. The sexual health of young Londoners is a "major public health issue" and still among the worst in the country, despite innovative projects and improvements in services.

The demand for Muslim schools comes from parents who want their children a safe environment with an Islamic ethos. Parents see Muslim schools where children can develop their Islamic Identity where they won't feel stigmatised for being Muslims and they can feel confident about their faith. The significance and value of Muslim schools is that the Islamic religion imposed obligations of good citizenship, keeping the peace and paying taxes. While ambition of state school is to get children humping each other before they are out of primary school and giving them parenting classes when they are fourteen to help the girls cope with the babies they will have conceived at thirteen."

This broadside was authored by Iftikhar Ahmad, who is associated with LSI whose confrontational approach mirrors the attitude of those who speak for British Muslims such as the Muslim Council of Britain [MCB].

That posture reflects a key element in Europe's social dynamic - its rate of reproduction is falling below what is needed for population stability.

The direction of Europe's Muslims however, is in the opposite direction.

For example in the UK, according to the country's 2001 Census, its Muslim population was 1,600,000 out of a total of 59 million.

However the number of Muslims in the British Isles has literally exploded since then, adding, as the Times demonstrates, a half million in less than five years, "The Muslim population in Britain has grown by more than 500,000 to 2.4 million in just four years, according to official research collated for The Times." In contrast, over the ten years since the last census, Britain's non-Muslim population has barely grown, now numbering approximately 61 million, while over the same period the UK's Muslim population has nearly doubled.

As noted on these pages [see UK Defeated By Muslim Stealth Jihad, Capitulates To Shari'a and UK's Shari'a Court System Metastasizing At Exponential Rate] the UK has arguably gone farther to accommodate the extreme demands of its Muslim residents than any other European country [the overall trend for the Continent along these lines is not good, with the possible exception of France, still quite protective of its unique traditions] - a powerful statement given Europe's general unwillingness to defend its culture against these same forces.

Drawing from this trend it should not have been surprising to witness the UK essentially having capitulated to the most aggressive advocates of Shari'a in 2008, for the first time recognizing a dual system of justice under which Muslims would in large part, especially in family matters, be subject to the dictates of Islamic law, which now carry the full force of the Crown.

Mr. Ahmad's just published screed is therefore in full keeping with the direction that British society has in large part already chosen. Instead of attempting to reason with what would be an illogical argument in a culturally confident society, one should instead look towards the recent and past residents at #10 Downing to assign the blame at its proper source.

Phony Conservative Tom Campbell Savaged in Carly Fiorina "Demon Sheep" Ad

February 5, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Designed to rip the hastily applied conservative veneer from newly minted CA Senatorial candidate Tom Campbell, the Fiorina for Senate campaign has placed a devastating ad on YouTube, critiquing the career politician's long record of economic and social liberalism.

The ad begins with the words "purity" and "piety," followed by a voice sarcastically intoning "our fiscally conservative leaders..." It then segues into the image of a rather plump sheep atop a Greek column, a position from which it then tumbles unceremoniously, head over hoofs, to the ground.

After fully developing the sheep imagery, the piece rapidly shifts into a more standard type political hit piece detailing the numerous occasions in which Campbell has and continues to advocate liberal tax measures, most recently his backing of a plan to - unbelievably - triple California's already highest in the nation gasoline tax by 2012.

The ad ends with the sheep showing its true intent, morphing into a wolf in disguise.

Of note, when Campbell, a perennial candidate for just about any office, decided to abandon his short-lived campaing for governor in favor of running for the seat of Barbara Boxer instead, some political insiders thought it would snuff the life out of political neophyte Fiorina's bid for the same seat. However, the release of this ad proves those concerns were misplaced and that this candidate has more than enough aggressiveness to lock heads with the likes of RINO Campbell.

Hopeful Sign Seen in Proposed Security Meeting Between India and Pakistan

February 4, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - In a rare positive development coming out of what is arguably the most dangerous area on the globe, today India announced its desire to meet with arch-rival Pakistan primarily to discuss security matters.

Relations between the two countries have been on hold since the November 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks that killed nearly 170 including 6 Americans.

It is widely believed that elements of Pakistan's ISI were involved in the operation though Pakistan immediately and vigorously denied the charges.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi the Pakistani Foreign Minister, stated that he welcomed the offer and that it was his desire that the discussions should be wide ranging.

India's home minister Palaniappan Chidambaram will be participating in a high level security meeting in the country in possible anticipation of which he offered what is perceived as an olive branch to his future hosts, allowing that the Mumbai attackers might have included an Indian guide.

This is in stark contrast to India's now long standing allegation of Pakistani complicity in the attack.

Pakistani Scientist Convicted in NY on Terror Charges

February 4, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, born in Pakistan but educated in the United States, has been convicted in Judge Richard Berman's Southern New York District court on seven counts including attempted murder of U.S. citizens and U.S. officers and government employees.

Siddiqui was arrested in the Afghani province of Ghazni. accused of attempting to carry out a terrorist attack. A search of her handbag revealed plans to carry out a mass casualty type assault. During an interrogation session conducted by U.S. forces Siddiqui grabbed the M-4 carbine which the interrogating officer had laid on the ground and started firing wildly. She was subdued by the same officer who brought her down with his side arm.

She was subsequently extradited to New York for trial.

    Obama Kills the Vision Thing

February 4, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - With millions of eyes glued to television sets all over the world, viewers were stunned into silence when at approximately 9:00 EST on the morning of February 1, 2003, during the always critical re-entry phase of the flight, the shuttle Columbia came apart in the upper atmosphere for reasons largely still unknown [the role of solar flares are strongly suspected] resulting in the loss of the entire crew and the grounding of the space fleet.

So it was surprising then that Mr. Obama took the occasion of the seventh anniversary of that shuttle disaster to announce his decision to kill the single lasting testament of the JFK administration, the lunar manned space flight program.

Curiously, for the anti-capitalist Obama, at the time of the announcement - perhaps to provide plausible deniability - he suggested that manned space should instead become the purview of private enterprise, stranger still when considering that by killing the U.S. program much of the newest hardware [specifically, the Ares missile and Orion crew capsule] would die with it, pulling the rug out from the primary mechanism whereby space travel might become more appealing

When asked to comment about the decision "Bizarre," is the term Michael Griffin, a physicist and former NASA Administrator used to describe it adding, "for the U.S. government to deliberately give up its lead in something which is fundamentally an enterprise of governments ... for the United States to give up something that's an important part of our national identity in favor of outsourcing it to commercial enterprises when and as they come into being is bizarre."

Demonstrating a grand vision sorely lacking in Obama's frigid collectivist mechanistics, in 2004 testimony to Congress Griffin stated, "for me the single overarching goal of human space flight is the human settlement of the solar system, and eventually beyond. I can think of no lesser purpose sufficient to justify the difficulty of the enterprise, and no greater purpose is possible."

For this administration, so wrapped up in "democratizing" the economy through federal confiscation, to reject a government role in space travel - perhaps one of the few areas of enterprise in which a government/private partnership can thrive - the decision to so cavalierly kill the soul of the space program demonstrates the intellectual wasteland from which it emanates.

Compounding the shortsightedness of this move - announcing it on the anniversary of the Columbia disaster - is simply additional evidence that for all of the purported wisdom housed within this administration, in the non-pretend world, it has far less grasp of the "vision thing," than even the originator of that odd locution, GHW Bush.

Islamist Rabble Rousing over Imam Luqman Abdullah's Messy Departure

February 4, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - There is an old aphorism which goes "be careful what you wish for, it may come true," or some variation on that theme, which comes to mind observing the chorus of breast beating, wailing and gnashing of teeth which have accompanied the release of the autotopsy of imam Luqman Abdullah.

Abdullah, leader of a radical Islamist separatist group which called itself "the Ummah," [Arabic for the Muslim community] to which he preached a message that Islam should be spread by violent jihad, once reportedly quipping, "Don't carry a gun if you are going to give it to the cops, give them a bullet instead," was killed in Dearborn during a gunfight with various police agencies including local police and at least one FBI SWAT team.

According to the Detroit FBI's initial complaint, Luqman Abdullah (aka Christopher Thomas), age 53, of Detroit, Michigan was charged with 5 felonies, violating, "18 U.S.C. 371 Conspiracy to Commit Federal Crimes, 18 U.S.C. Sale or Receipt of Stolen Goods Transported in Interstate Commerce, 18 U.S.C. 922(d) Providing Firearms or Ammunition to a Person Known to be a Convicted Felon, 18 U.S.C. 931 Possession of Body Armor by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony and 18 U.S.C. 551 altering or Removing Motor Vehicle Identification Numbers." [source, FBI website, Eleven Members/Associates of Ummah Charged with Federal Violations One Subject Fatally Shot During Arrest, http://detroit.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/pressrel09/de102809.htm]

The autopsy documents [go here to view, warning its fairly graphic, http://download.gannett.edgesuite.net/detnews/2010/pdf/0201imam.pdf] 21 bullet wounds to the imam's body, testament to the ferocity of the engagement. The attached toxicology report noted the presence of chlorpheneramine - an antihistamine, dextromethorphan - an antitussive [cough suppressant] and diphenhydramine [generic for Benadryl] also an antihistamine, in Abdullah's blood.

Immediately upon the release of the report, the Islamist apologists hastily declared their availability to a media always eager to pounce on tragic events they can spin into boiler plate narratives suggesting police brutality, over reaction or both.

Two old hands at the blame game were part of the initial press gaggle, the Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR, named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest, successful prosecution of Hamas terror funding in U.S. history, U.S. vs. Holy Land Foundation, et al.] and the slightly more taciturn, Muslim Public Affairs Council [MPAC] a group which Daniel Pipes characterizes as having [along with CAIR] impeded,"...counterterrorism efforts and forwarding an Islamist vision of America in particular." [see, The Difference Between CAIR and MPAC, http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2004/07/the-difference-between-cair-and-mpac]

MPAC's statement, delivered by Alejandro Beutel, was typical, craftily worded but still accusatory, "The FBI's tactics and actions in the case of Imam Luqman Abdullah have exacerbated tensions between our communities and law enforcement and undercut the fragile trust needed for effective partnerships to keep America safe...The public deserves answers, which requires a thorough investigation by an independent party." [see, MPAC website, http://www.mpac.org/article.php?id=1024#axzz0eWB6vHK2]

What is confusing about this whole affair is that the imam seemingly got exactly what he desired, a firestorm of a sendoff to the next world via a confrontation with the police, seemingly instigated by him responding to a police order to surrender with a hail of his own bullets directed at the confronting officers and agents.

Some comment has been made regarding the number of wounds to the imam's body, which again is curious. SWAT teams, especially at the level of the FBI often employ weapons with select fire options of either full auto or controlled round bursts [usually three rounds]. In a fire fight such as this, their job is to engage the target until it is subdued, often this results in multiple hits, many of which in themselves might eventually prove to be fatal.

When faced with obvious hostile intent, accompanied by Abdullah's past record of belligerence, it's unreasonable to expect law enforcement to react with anything but overwhelming force to immediately terminate the threat, which is exactly what happened.

The lesson here is that unfortunately for wannabe mujahideen, if you go to war in an urban environment against law enforcement, especially the FBI armed with a hand gun the possibility of ending up like the imam are quite high.

Hence the sturm and drang accompanying the charges critics have lodged against law enforcement in the aftermath of this affair, though long on emotion, lack the requisite kernel of credibility required to make them at all worthy of serious consideration.

As we have noted before, consider the case of the so-called "flying imams," these after-action media friendly campaigns are components of a stealth jihad designed to manipulate, influence and limit the range of options available to those whose job it is to maintain national security, especially through their ability to employ effective counter terror strategies.

Wing-nut Congressman John Conyers' lobbying effort to force the FBI's Civil Rights division [which under Mr. Holder is completely out of control as we detail here, https://www.pipelinenews.org/2009/Unbelievable-45-Holder-Justice-Department-Sues-To-Enforce.html as well as here, https://www.pipelinenews.org/2009/Holders-Politicized-Race-Conscious-DOJ-Team-Busted-Again.html] into a serious review of this matter does not augur well along these lines.

House Moves to Ban Civilian Trial of KSM, Frank Wolf Introduces Legislation

February 2, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The U.S. House of Representatives is quickly moving to block the Obama administration's ill-considered decision to try 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civilian court proceeding.

Legislation to that effect will be introduced today, authored by Frank Wolf [R-VA].

The bill has already garnered 34 sponsors, 3 of which are Democrats.

Rather than confront the administration - on unequal terms - over its decision, the bill is designed to prevent the trial from proceeding by denying the funding with which to carry it out.

The bill essentially mirrors an amendment which Wolf offered previously, to the 2010 omnibus spending bill, which was defeated on a straight party-line vote.

Though estimates differ, most agree that the cost for the KSM trial and accompanying heavy security measures would be in the range of $250 million dollars.

The following is the text of Mr. Wolf's remarks today regarding this issue:

"Today I am introducing bipartisan legislation with Sen. Lindsey Graham to prohibit the use of Department of Justice funds for a civilian trial for Khalid Sheik Mohammed - 9/11 mastermind and murderer of journalist Daniel Pearl - and four other co-conspirators in any community in the U.S. I feel this legislation is critically needed in light of the attorney general's dangerous mismanagement of this trial. This legislation is similar to an amendment I offered to fiscal year 2010 appropriations legislation, but was defeated on a party-line vote late last year.

Last November, Attorney General Eric Holder unilaterally announced that Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his four co-conspirators currently held at Guantanamo Bay would be tried in the heart of New York City in a civilian trial. Alarmingly, the attorney general did not consult with any local leaders, including New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly or Mayor Michael Bloomberg. If he had, he would have better understood the dangers and cost of this approach. The trial, as planned, is estimated to cost taxpayers at least $250 million per year -- for a total expected cost of more than $1 billion.

Upon reviewing the costs and security concerns from the New York City Police Department last week, Mayor Bloomberg stated, 'It would be great if the federal government could find a site that didn't cost a billion dollars, which using downtown [New York City] will. [The trial] is going to cost an awful lot of money and disturb an awful lot of people.' Shortly thereafter, scores of local, state, and congressional leaders from the New York region withdrew their support and encouraged the attorney general to reverse this reckless decision.

However, in light of this collapsing support from local leaders for the trial, I am concerned that the Obama Administration is now 'venue shopping' for a new city to hold this trial in order to save face. This approach is no less dangerous, costly and disruptive to other communities under consideration than it was for New York City.

The legislation Sen. Graham and I are introducing today would explicitly block this dangerous and wasteful trial from any domestic civilian court and, hopefully, compel the attorney general to work with Congress on a safer and more appropriate option. However, our legislation would still allow for a military commission at Guantanamo Bay or on a secure military base inside the U.S. This is a reasonable approach that allows the administration to try these murderous terrorists in an appropriate military commission. These detainees do not deserve more rights than an American serviceman or woman that is tried by military court.

Madam Speaker, I urge my colleagues to cosponsor this important legislation. The attorney general does not have a blank check to try dangerous terrorists in the venue of his choice. This must be a decision made in consultation with local leaders, Congress and the American people."

With NY Mayor Bloomberge recently having expressed opposition to the trial taking place in that city and a general feeling of unease regarding the wisdom of trying a notorious terrorist in a civilian proceeding, rising, even among Democrats, Wolf's move might well help push DOJ and Mr. Obama to reverse course and try KSM in the approprite military setting rather than deal with a brewing political firestorm.

KSM to be Tried in New Haven?

February 2, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Speculation is swirling around DC upon cable news announcements that various smaller East Coast cities are being considered as potential sites for the trial of KSM, now that opinion seems to have turned against New York City, especially in the wake of Mayor Bloomberg's solid opposition.

If reports coming out of the Connecticut Law Tribune [see, http://www.ctlawtribune.com/getarticle.aspx?ID=36237] are correct, New Haven, Connecticut is in the running, for this unenviable undertaking.

" Cable News Network and other media outlets reported Monday that no final decision has been made on moving the trial out of New York City. But Fox News and the New York Post are among those that have mentioned Otisville, N.Y. (home to a federal prison that could house the suspects during a trial), White Plains, N.Y., and New Haven as possible sites. Neither organization provided a specific source for its information, other than someone inside the White House."

All of this is further evidence of disarray within DOJ and the WH

In an exclusive interview with the Law Tribune, an attorney for Abu-Jihadd suggested that New Haven was particularly attractive from the standpoint of security, having professionally dealt with maintaining public safety during the trial of his client.

The case of Hassan Abu-Jihaad is unique in the annals of the U.S. Navy, where he served as a signalman aboard the USS Benfold, an Arleigh Burke class destroyer serving in the Gulf during 2001.

The DOJ statement upon Jihaad's conviction follows: [see, http://newhaven.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/2008/abujihaad030508.htm]

"Kevin J. O'Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and other federal officials today announced that a federal jury in New Haven, Connecticut, has found Hassan Abu-Jihaad, formerly known as Paul R. Hall, 32, of Phoenix, Arizona, guilty of providing material support of terrorism and disclosing previously classified information relating to the national defense. The verdict was returned this afternoon. The trial before United States District Judge Mark R. Kravitz began on February 25.

We are very pleased with today's verdict, and I am proud of the outstanding work of the agents, analysts and prosecutors involved," stated U.S. Attorney O'Connor. "This verdict demonstrates loudly and clearly that we will seek to hold accountable anyone responsible for providing classified information to those who intend to use it in a manner against our national interests.

According to the evidence provided at trial, in 2001, four or five months after the October 2000 attack on the U.S.S. Cole, Abu-Jihaad provided classified information regarding the movements of a United States Navy battle group, which was charged with enforcing sanctions against the Taliban and engaging in missions against Al Qaeda, to Azzam Publications, a London-based organization that is alleged to have provided material support and resources to persons engaged in acts of terrorism through the creation and use of various internet web sites, e-mail communications, and other means, including www.azzam.com. Between approximately February 2000 and the end of 2001, the web site www.azzam.com was hosted on the computer web servers of a web hosting company located in Trumbull, Connecticut. At the time the classified information was disclosed to Azzam Publications, Abu-Jihaad was an enlistee in the United States Navy on active duty in the Middle East and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Benfold, one of the ships in the battle group whose movements were disclosed.

In the post 9/11 world, our challenge is to identify, investigate and apprehend those who would compromise our national security in the name of violent jihadism," said Kenneth L. Wainstein, Assistant Attorney General for National Security. "Today's verdict demonstrates that our agents and prosecutors met that challenge with dedication and professionalism. We are all very proud of their efforts.

Evidence presented at trial indicated that, in December 2003, British law enforcement officers recovered a computer floppy disk in a residence of one of the operators of Azzam Publications. Forensic analysis of the disk disclosed a password-protected Microsoft Word document setting forth previously classified information regarding the upcoming movements of a U.S. Naval battle group as it was to transit from San Diego to its deployment in the Persian Gulf in 2001. The document went on to discuss the battle group's perceived vulnerability to terrorist attack.

We are extremely gratified with the jury's guilty verdict today," said Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "The evidence in this case showed that Hassan Abu-Jihaad provided classified information to terrorists which could have been used to kill American sailors. Revealing information about U.S. troop movements is clearly a terrible threat to our national security and ICE and our law enforcement partners will use all resources to protect American lives from terrorist organizations.

According to the evidence at trial, subsequent investigation uncovered several email exchanges from late 2000 to late 2001 between members of Azzam Publications and Abu-Jihaad, including discussions regarding videos Abu-Jihaad ordered from Azzam Publications that promoted violent jihad and extolled the virtues of martyrdom; a small donation of money Abu-Jihaad made to Azzam Publications; and whether it was "safe" to send materials to Abu-Jihaad at his military address onboard the U.S.S. Benfold. In another email exchange with Azzam Publications, Abu-Jihaad described a recent force protection briefing given aboard his ship, voiced enmity toward America, praised Usama bin Laden and the mujahideen, praised the October 2000 attack on the U.S.S. Cole-which Abu-Jihaad described as a "martyrdom operation,"-and advised the members of Azzam Publications that such tactics were working and taking their toll. The email response from Azzam Publications encouraged Abu-Jihaad to "keep up... the psychological warefare [sic]."

Dutch High Court Orders Retrial of Hofstad Group

February 2, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Found not guilty on the basis of a controversial 2008 decision, the highest court in the Netherlands has ordered a retrial of the "Hofstad Group."

In this matter the group was charged with making preparations for an attack which has yet to come to fruition.

The Hofstad Group became known publicly as the organization to which Mohammed Bouyeri, the assassin of Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh in November of 2004, election day in the U.S., belonged.

The charges on which the 6 members of Hofstad will be retried stem from their membership in a terrorist organization.

Given Hofstad's decentralized structure proving that it meets the Dutch definition of a "terrorist organization" is the crux of the new case.

One of the suspects in the original trial, a "Jason W" was found guilty of possessing explosive devices and plotting to kill Dutch policemen. Under Holland's lenient sentencing laws, he is only serving a 15 yr sentence.

Ditto regarding the defendant's names, under the Netherlands kinder-gentler system of jurisprudence, even the perpetrators real names can't be used, instead substituting fictitious identifiers to maintain, what must be the perceived dignity of the criminal, in this case an Islamic terrorist.

Is U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Former Alliance with Abortion Advocacy Group Shaping Its Stance on Obamacare?

    By WILLIAM MAYER

February 1, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - We have noted in the past with alarm, the leftist cant of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops [USCCB] and its advocacy of positions which undermine the country's national security and the interests for which the Conference supposedly speaks, for example its support of the Soviet led "Nuclear Freeze," ongoing phony interfaith dialogue with individuals and organizations representing a radical Muslim ideology and its support of immigration policies that are so extreme they obliterate the concept of national borders - a dominant principle in Western civilization and international law - recognized for nearly 400 years, at least since the Treaty of Westphalia [1648].

In this same spirit of recklessness has been the USCCB's support of governmental control of the American health care industry - Obamacare.

Publicly their only objection is the inclusion in the legislation - only partially ameliorated via the "Stupak" amendment - of language which promotes funding of abortion, something currently not allowed under federal statutes.

Regardless of whether or not abortion is explicitly or implicitly included in Obamacare should it become law, the effort itself remains a brazen attempt by the feds to seize control of citizens' right to privately make their own health care decisions.

The Church's complicity in such an unprecedented attempted abrogation of free will - a cornerstone of Christian theology - is shameful.

Underecutting this nuanced opposition the group has entertained in the past - the remnants of which are still lurking philosophically - a partnership with at least one of the key mechanisms which today supports this Soviet style healthcare meddling - a major promoter of "abortion rights."

Drawing our attention to this matter is Katie Walker of the American Life League who writes today:

A national group that promotes abortion and homosexual rights has deep ties with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, according to a report released Monday.

Top USCCB executive John Carr held simultaneous leadership roles, creating a conflict of interest, with the USCCB and the radical Center for Community Change.

"The closer we look at the Bishops Conference [staff and programs], the more we find a systemic pattern of cooperation with evil," said Michael Hichborn, American Life League's lead researcher into the USCCB scandal. "The CCC has lodged itself into the highest places of power in the USCCB while working to promote abortion and homosexuality."

John Carr is the USCCB executive director of the Department of Justice Peace and Human Development which oversees the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). He has been employed by the USCCB since 1987.

John Carr's relationship with the Center for Community Change goes back at least to 1983, serving in leadership roles from 1999 to 2006 – including as chairman of the board. The Reform CCHD Now report details the organization's promotion of abortion, "reproductive rights" and homosexuality as among the CCC's core advocacy focuses.

In 2001, while Carr served as both a USCCB exec and CCC leader, the Catholic Bishops Conference funneled $150,000 to the pro-abortion group. The USCCB web site currently promotes the group and officials have spoken at CCC events.

"Strangely, Carr's leadership on the CCC's board shows up on several bios he's submitted for speaking engagements, but the word for word bio on the USCCB web site mysteriously omits that one detail," Hichborn said. "Why?"

Revelations of John Carr's involvement in the Center for Community Change come only months after members of the Reform CCHD Now coalition, including American Life League, uncovered 31 CCHD grantees partnered with the CCC.

"The CCHD claims it will immediately investigate accusations against organizations it funds yet it is silent on the CCC," said Hichborn. "How can Carr and the USCCB possibly justify this intimate relationship with such an obvious enemy of the Church?"

It seems then that the anti-life ideology represented by Center for Community Change [CCC] has found a home within USCCB - via John Carr's leadership of the Department of Justice Peace and Human Development - which controls the CCHD.

CCC's pro-abort activities extend to a role as one of the organizers of the Coalition to Pass Health Care Reform, about which the Boston Globe observes:

"Supporters of the Stupak provision say it would guarantee that current law barring the use of taxpayers money for abortion would stay in place during a health overhaul, but abortion rights groups say it would go much further, stopping women from using their own money for elective abortions.

'The Stupak amendment is a radical proposal that upends current law on abortion coverage in the United States," the Coalition to Pass Health Care Reform and Stop Stupak said in a statement. "It goes far beyond the Hyde amendment, which has unfairly prohibited the use of federal funds for abortion in most cases for more than 30 years. The Stupak amendment goes beyond Hyde because it would restrict abortion coverage by private health insurance plans in an unprecedented and dangerous manner.'" [source, Boston Globe, November 29, 2009, http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2009/11/abortion_rights_3.html]

What types of organizations came together to form this coalition?

The Globe notes the "Center for Community Change," included with such long-time abortion proponents as the, "... Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP)...Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE), Center for Reproductive Right, Choice USA, EMILY's List, Latina Sexual and Reproductive Justice Coalition (LSRJC), MoveOn.org Political Action, NARAL Pro-Choice America, NARAL Pro-Choice New York, National Abortion Federation (NAF)..."

Highlighting its stance, CCC's website carries the following from Marvin Randolph, the "Director of Organizing and Politics at the Center for Community Change."

"CCC has been a core partner of Health Care for America Now since its founding. In the fight for quality, affordable, health care for all we have many powerful enemies. The insurance industry is out to kill reform. Our opponents have thrown every obstacle they can find to slow us down. Anti-choice activists have seized on the general controversy around the reform and found an opportunity to further restrict women's access to reproductive health care by tying their cause to the general campaign of hate and misinformation that bombards the country's airwaves." [source, http://www.communitychange.org/blog/remarks-at-the-stop-stupak-coalition-day-of-action/view?searchterm=None]

A quick page-through of CCC's website, revealing its partners, associates and leadership, suggests that rather than it being a simple advocate for disadvantaged Americans it is rather, a cynical and classic example of an extreme left font group whose operating principles and philosophy devolve from Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals."

That the left defends abortion above nearly everything else is a truism, unfortunately abortion's undeniable roots in eugenics [and its clear relationship with totalitarianism, most publicly State Socialism] is less commonly understood.

If the alarm bells at USCCB aren't already ringing, the organization's political judgment is in as poor a state as its outreach programs.

For at least the last three decades, the Conference has actively sought partnerships and alliances as well as having supported political movements that are inimical to Catholic traditionalism, suggesting a need for a long overdue and thorough public examination of the group's guiding philosophy, goals and the methods whereby it seeks to bring them about.

In many important areas the Church's leadership has abandoned its historic mandate to advance doctrinally sound theology, harkening rather to adopt the false face of "religious accommodation," a touchy-feeling stalking horse for the moral-relativism and perverse multiculturalism which is inimical to Christianity.

As additional evidence of this ethical recalcitrance, consider the current campaign to allow Rome [and Vatican City, both contained within the province of Lazio] to fall under the sway of an anti-Catholic, extreme left bigot, Emma Bonino and the Vatican's unwillingness to intervene, despite it taking place literally in the Church's backyard.

ROME, January 29, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Political and Vatican watchers in Italy are expecting an interesting fight for the governor's seat of the province of Lazio, the province of Rome and the Papacy, as a virulently anti-Catholic, hard-left candidate takes centre stage. Senator Emma Bonino is the darling of the far-left feminist movement and a leading member of the anti-clerical Radical Party in Italy. But despite her positions supporting abortion, contraception and divorce, Bonino counts among her supporters many in the Italian Catholic leadership and laity...Despite Bonino's being a major player in the abortion movement, Sandro Magister, Italy's leading Vatican-watch journalist wrote today that "many of the Catholic clergy and laity" support Bonino, "and the hierarchy is giving her free rein." Two prominent members of the leftist Partito Democratico, Franco Marini and Maria Pia Garavaglia, welcomed Bonino's candidacy, saying she will be "capable on issues and initiatives that are at the heart of Catholic voters." [see, Virulent Pro-Abortion Candidate Widely Supported by Catholics in Rome's Provincial Election, http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/jan/10012902.html]

About this matter, Sandro Magister, an extraordinarily insightful writer on Catholic matters, recently published the following in the influential - and widely read by Catholic intellectuals - Chiesa magazine:

"Running for governor of Lazio is Emma Bonino, who has always been an unflagging adversary of the Church. Many of the Catholic clergy and laity support her, and the hierarchy is giving her free rein. One secular intellectual is rebelling, and making accusations

More than half a century after that long ago 1952, and in both cases with administrative elections around the corner, the diocese of the pope is today presented with the same threat: that its civil government may fall into enemy hands. But the Church's reactions today appear much different than they did then.

In 1952, the pope and the Vatican authorities, in a state of high alarm, swung into action in person. Fearing the electoral victory, right under the Vatican walls, of communists and socialists who at the time were closely connected to the empire of Moscow, Pius XII ordered the Catholic party – Democrazia Cristiana, led by Alcide De Gasperi, whose beatification cause is underway – to enter an alliance with the parties of the far right in a civic list headed by the elderly priest Luigi Sturzo – also on his way to the glory of the altar – and actively supported by Catholic Action and its civic committees." [see, Pope and Antipope. The Strange Case of the Administrative Elections in Rome and the Region, http://chiesa.espresso.repubblica.it/articolo/1341932?eng=y]

Top Church elders, starting with the Holy See, have and continue to stand-by placidly while a significant element within the ordained Catholic hierarchy and its lay bureaucracy have simply gone rogue, marching relentlessly towards a professed kinder-gentler collectivist vision of utopianism.

If we are to judge by outward actions, the Catholic Church - the oldest Christian institution on earth - is flirting with oblivion. It faces the great danger of losing whatever moral authority it might still retain in the wake of the priestly child abuse scandal, the reverberations of which continue. The cause of that dreadful chapter in Church history - resulting from a similar unwillingness to address problems long after they were obvious, at the seminary level, where all manner of social misfits and deviational philosophies had been entertained [the problem only being whispered about among Catholicism's political class, if at all] is being replayed today, all the more unforgivable against the extant backdrop of - [hopefully past] sexual impropriety.

Unless a process is quickly put in motion whereby some degree of orthodoxy is reestablished, the darkness at the end of a very short historical tunnel threatens to consume the Church from the top down.

Evidence for this abounds; still faithful Catholics need only look around them on nearly any Sunday during Mass, the empty pews are there for a reason...they speak far louder than any assemblage of words.

The Problem With Islamic Broadcasting Networks And Islamic Schools In The Netherlands

    By EMERSON VERMAAT

February 1, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - A new Islamic broadcasting network, the Netherlands Muslim Broadcasting Foundation or SMON, has recently been granted permission to broadcast in the Netherlands. There were lots of problems with previous similar Muslim networks, and it may not be very different this time. Chairman of the new network is Radi Suudi, a Dutch Palestinian and a well known defender of Palestinian causes.

'Should journalistic independence ever be affected, I'll be gone,' Suudi said.Another controversial friend of Suudi's is Frank William, a fairly moderate Dutch-Surinamese Muslim.
