July 1, 2017 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Late last evening we received a kind of breathy email announcement by the Islamic Society of North America [ISNA], a Muslim Brotherhood front group and one linked to HAMAS in federal court proceedings, that it was featuring a special guest speaker - Siraj Wahhaj - at its upcoming 54th Community Service Recognition Luncheon.
First, regarding ISNA, the federal courts haven’t been particularly kind, linking it to terrorist groups:
“Federal District Court Judge Jorge Solis in a 2009 decision stated: "The government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA, NAIT, with NAIT, the Islamic Association for Palestine, and with Hamas," U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis said in the July 1, 2009, ruling...” [source, Federal Judge Agrees: CAIR Tied to Hamas , Investigative Project on Terrorism]
Compounding the bizarre idea that such an organization would even consider bestowing an award of merit, there is the speaker himself, imam Siraj Wahhaj among whose “accomplishments” is having, “appeared on a list of unindicted coconspirators in the trial of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Wahhaj provided testimony during the trial to defend the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel-Rahman, the former leader of the Egyptian terrorist organization, Gama'a al-Islamiyya . Rahman was found guilty of "conspiracy to murder President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt," "solicitation to attack a military installation," and of bombing conspiracy related to a plot to bomb the New York FBI headquarters along with tunnels and other landmarks. During Wahhaj's testimony, he called the Sheik a "respected scholar," also calling him "bold, as a strong preacher of Islam." [Masjid al-Taqwa & Siraj Wahhaj, the Investigative Project on Terrorism]
Additionally Wahhaj has a long history of making statements suggesting that the Constitution should be replaced by Shari’a, “to establish Allah’s deen [creed].”
Also at the event will be Sayyid M Syeed, a long-time operative and national director for the terror tied group.
“Dr. Sayyid M. Syeed is the National Director of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), heading up its Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances in Washington, DC. He served for 12 years (1994-2006) as Secretary General of the Indiana-based national umbrella organization, which has more than 300 affiliates all over the U.S. and Canada.” [source, ISNA website]
Rounding out the speaker’s list, actually giving the keynote address is the entirely unsavory character, Linda Sarsour a shrill and extraordinarily vain stealth jihadist, who has of late been partnering with the Marxist left to advance her agenda.
Regarding Sarsour, as we have previously published:
In a 2004 piece by Sarmad S. Ali, "Kerry Drew Disenchanted Arabs in Bay Ridge" published in the Columbia Journalism Review, Linda Sarsour matter-of-factly documents her family's ties to Hamas as depicted in the Arab language terrorist newspaper that she is reading while being interviewed:
"As the presidential election grew near, Linda Sarsour sat in her small office at the Arab-American Association in, Brooklyn, looking at the photos of two thickly bearded young Arabs on the front page of an Arabic-language newspaper. The paper carried fervent slogans calling on young people to become martyrs in the conflict with Israel. Sarsour, a 24-year-old Palestinian-American, sighed. One of the men, she said, was a cousin who has been in Israeli jails for 25 years. The other man, she said, was a family friend serving a 99-year prison sentence in Israel. Her brother-in-law, she said, is also serving a 12-year sentence, accused of being an activist in the Hamas, the religious militant group, though, she said, he was secular in his beliefs." Screen grab since Columbia seems to have purged the story from its website:
It is disconcerting to see ISNA, Syeed and Sarsour cavorting about at this stage in the war on Islamic terror and long past time for the U.S. Department of Justice to have taken ameliorative action.
