February 10, 2016 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org – Yesterday the first primary of the 2016 presidential campaign cycle took place, as has been the case since 1920, in New Hampshire, where maintaining its lead position among the states is a matter of state law.
As it pertains to impact upon the political system at large, in and of itself New Hampshire isn’t really much of a player; neither Bill Clinton, G.W. Bush nor President Obama won New Hampshire yet they all served two full terms
New Hampshire isn’t exactly a powerhouse of economic clout or innovation either. For example not a single Fortune 500 company is headquartered there. Population wise [1.3M +/-] it’s on par with that of many American cities. In the national legislature, the state is represented by 2 senators and 2 members of the House of Representatives, just a single representative above the absolute minimum.
Despite these many obstacles to stature and visibility, through sheer diligence and perseverance New Hampshire has distinguished itself by carving out a niche, albeit one which would be ordinarily inconsequential were it not for it being the first real primary contest and the media’s insatiable appetite for content.
In a little over two weeks when the “Super Tuesday” primaries take place all that occurred in New Hampshire will be forgotten, overwritten like compressed code on a stick drive.
There is a proviso though, in case you haven’t been paying attention this is not your normal quadrennial battle for the most powerful office on earth; it’s unique in American history, featuring dual insurgencies - on the left as well as the right - fueled by a near revolutionary state of rage among average voters who sense DC’s total indifference as they observe Western Civilization locking into a death spiral.
On the Democrat side there are two, white and weathered progressive/Marxists running - nothing really new there except for the fact that they are no longer hiding behind euphemisms, this is Stalinism head on…oh…and it would be remiss to avoid noting that one of them is under federal investigation, staffed by a team of over 150 FBI agents who are diving into every aspect of the Bill and Hillary’s unsecured external email server network which was used to transmit the highest level of intelligence, far beyond secret [Special Access Programs, SAP access ] possibly revealing the identity of field agents, national technical means, networks etc.
This is the type of information which if disclosed could get people killed.
But the GOP field genuinely runs the gamut – the prototypical rainbow melting pot - from the fire-breathing neo-populism of a bigger than reality TV Donald Trump to the staid thin-shouldered presence, such as it is, of Jeb Bush. Sandwiched in between is one of two Hispanic insider/outsiders, first term Senator Ted Cruz and the brilliant, soft-spoken, not to mention black, Dr. Ben Carson, a complete stranger to electoral politics. The other tenable candidate, also Hispanic, is Senator Marco Rubio who though handsome, articulate and seemingly earnest has the very considerable impediment of having joined with Chuck Schumer and the infamous, pro-amnesty “Gang of 8,” effort which flamed out under withering, talk radio led, grassroots pressure.
So if nothing else, the drama factor in this race is stratospheric.
If anything is an undeniable truth this year it’s that the visage of Trump looms over everything.
At least on the Republican side he has set the terms and tone of the debate. His thesis, though simple is not simplistic; America is weak and disrespected around the world, we are represented by people who “are not very bright,” whose operatives are “getting their “clocks cleaned” in trade negotiations with foreign governments, especially that of the ChiComs.
Within this critique though, what has really lit the fuse of the DC types’ is the strength of Trump’s core political belief that Western Culture is being gravely threatened… under siege by a flood of destitute immigrants, illiterate in their native tongue, many of whom reside here illegally.
More pointedly, in the shadow of an unremitting global jihad, no small number of these immigrants - Trump rages - are Middle Eastern asylum seekers who are curiously, overwhelmingly military aged young men. These are "soldiers of Allah,” implacably wedded to a 10th century misogynistic, philistinism and aggressively resistant to any accommodation within a Western context, nothing that would signal an interest in moderation.
These people have no conception of, nor do many of them approve of democracy, let alone republican democracies. To them the Shari’a is always the deciding word.
Though most citizens intuitively understand the danger of open borders, especially the refu-jihadi angle, it is this single issue which has set the inside the beltway intelligentsia’s hair on fire.
For lack of a better term, these people are the society’s power brokers, America’s equivalent of noblemen. These are the high born, rising in an almost ritualistic manner through the ranks, indoctrinated at Ivy League institutions into the skewed ideology of multiculturalism during which they also succumb to group-think.
This is a smug, insular and self-confirmatory universe in which the insiders exclusively work, talk to and party with each other. More revealing, this mindset infects both right and left. If you intend to make it in the nation’s capital or at the level of its financial appendages, Wall Street and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, you must at least fake an aura of accepting the premise that DC ethos is the preferred template, to be forced upon the rest of the nation.
Throughout this unpredictable race, the political establishment has very roughly handled the traditionalist/nativist components of the electorate, indicting them on a bewildering series of culture-based charges ranging from “white privilege,” through “micro aggression” to the logical endpoint, allegations of “bigotry” - especially given the immigration issue’s linkage with “the swells” their in-your-face xenophilia and its bastard progeny, Islamophobia.
Of all of the candidates, nothing approaches the socio-political complexities in which the Trump candidacy is wrapped. By its very nature, nothing in the Trump juggernaut better illustrates the chasm between the entrenched political class and the everyday reality of ‘the commoners” than the former’s reaction to his suggestion, in the wake of the UC Merced, Paris and San Bernardino jihadist atrocities, that the time had come to reevaluate immigration policy as it pertains to Muslims.
The Trump statement:
“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing "25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad" and 51% of those polled, "agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah." Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won't convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women. Mr. Trump stated, "Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again." [source, Trump Immigration Statement December 7, 2015]
The ensuing firestorm was entirely predictable with the chattering class, in high dudgeon, actually suggesting that America really has no right to decide who it will allow to enter the country - on whatever basis or criteria - and that the concept of borders was thereby passé. The base principle being asserted here is that the U.S. Constitution is a trans-national document granting the right of America citizenship to every inhabitant on the planet demonstrates the hermetic nature of the ruling class’ thinking.
It was and remains such a preposterous notion that the opinion makers and apparatchiks who endorse that viewpoint should be laughed off the political stage…that this hasn’t happened is evidence of the major fault line in the defensive posture of the West.
Moreover it displays such a complete misunderstanding of the direction the culture is heading that it has become obvious that regarding their hot point issues, everything they know is wrong; their problem is epistemological.
Also writing about the Trump candidacy’s position on uncontrolled immigration is the Gatestone Institutes, Salim Mansur, in a complexly reasoned feature piece, Trump's Ban on Muslims: The Discussion the Media Won't Have.
Some of the takeaways:
Trump’s reticence to accept further Muslim immigration, for an indefinite period of time reflects, “the complex reality of the Muslim world – religious, political, economic, cultural, and so on– contributes to turning a significant portion of Muslims into jihadi operatives at war with the United States.”
Americans, though subjected to more than enough provocation to have responded with a righteous fear and hatred of Muslims, have instead acted with restraint and tolerance in keeping with Western, Judeo/Christian norms. This of course is the very opposite reaction than that of the false reality being put forth alleging rampant, widespread Islamophobia, by Muslim Brotherhood front groups who have these talking points tattooed across their foreheads.
According to Mansur, adding to the long list of Islamic provocations, “Americans have watched the unabated spread of terrorism and warfare in the name of Islam; [the] hatred in Muslim countries directed towards the United States…attacks on Americans by extremist Muslims, and betrayals by Muslim countries that have been receiving American assistance, such as Pakistan.”
It is at this point where the author displays a perception that has escaped just about everyone, “The elite in Muslim-majority states is mostly, if not entirely, responsible for the wretched state of affairs that has left those states at the bottom of the list of countries when measured in terms of economic development, human rights, gender equality, education, freedom and democracy. For the elite in third world societies, a getaway to America has meant a readily available exit to avoid being held accountable for their misdeeds.
Mansur’s money quote is incisive, underlying the hidden wisdom of Trump’s proposal, “…it would greatly affect the Muslim elite and, consequently, compel them to begin taking responsibility for how they have mismanaged their societies and impoverished their people.”
Arguing from a more general perspective but taking into account Mansur’s reasoning, let’s bring this down to the personal.
Outside of the obvious bad actors, does it seem a reasonable proposition to invite even outwardly Westernized people to one’s home knowing that they gather on a weekly basis with sociopathic fanatics in local mosques which are funded by the most “extremist” wings of the most repressive regimes on Earth?
So it seems that Trump’s immigration ban make sense from the standpoint of the present danger posed by an increasing numbers of Muslims in America. It also has the hidden attribute of denying the Muslim elites - who almost universally create and stoke the fires of jihad - the safety valve escape mechanism which has protected them from the consequences of their ideological excesses.
Clarifying note: For example, consider Saudi Arabia, which bought off its most extreme Wahhabist and Salafi groups after their disciples took over Mecca’s Grand Mosque in 1979, while calling for the fall of the House of Saud. The deal was supposed to be that the royal family would gain some measure of domestic tranquility free of jihadist pressure by underwriting the export of Wahhabism - which has since been manifested in the West by the frenzied building of mega mosques on non-Muslim soil. Thus it is by no means happenstance that the overwhelming majority of U.S. masjids, Islamic centers and mosques [over 75%] preach a virulent Saudi inspired Wahhabism, nor is it an accident that so many of the deeds to these properties are held within an Islamic trust [waqf] by the North American Islamic Trust [NAIT] a Muslim Brotherhood front group according to federal court documents.
Please rerefer to, List of Unindicted Co-conspirators and/or Joint Venturers , as well as Federal judge Jorge Solis’ historic ruling, “ The government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA, NAIT, with NAIT, the Islamic Association for Palestine, and with Hamas ." U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis said in the July 1, 2009, ruling'" [source, The Investigative Project on Terrorism, U.S. District Court Filing
Digression aside, and back to the Gatestone piece, if Mansur’s logic is sound, Trump’s ban on further Muslim immigration may lend some hope to those who believe that it’s possible for a “peaceful” doctrine of Islam to supplant the operative/normative iteration which is engaged in a global holy war.
It remains entirely unclear if forcing Muslim leaders to turn Islam in upon itself, thus hopefully creating the conditions for reformation, will have any effect, or that the process will even play out as set forth.
Though preventing the culture from being overrun by mujahideen should be the first priority and appears to be eminently doable - the first step of which would be the ban on future Muslim immigration, expecting it to be accompanied by some kind of Islamic Reformation seems too much to hope for, though it may indeed be a long term consequence of the immigration ban.
Either way, it’s a win-win for the U.S.; most importantly, we stop the slow water torture drip-drip-drip of a society being impregnated by a supremacist foreign belief system while allowing for the possibility of a miracle of sorts, a new fiqh, one of a non-threatening, modernized Islam.
