Khamenei And Ahmadinejad At Loggerheads

January 17, 2012 - San Francisco, CA - - According to sources within Iran, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei called an urgent meeting to address the situation in the Persian Gulf, specifically the Strait of Hormuz.

SepahOnline, a website for Iranian military insiders, reports that a secret memo, from the Revolutionary Guards' commanders stationed in the Persian Gulf to the supreme leader's office, suggests that the Ahmadinejad government's meddling in the Guards' activities in the Persian Gulf is sabotaging their efforts of preparing for war.

The report further indicates that Khamenei has assigned his son, Mojtaba, the task of monitoring the Guards' preparation for a possible conflict with America and has ordered Ahmadinejad's government to cooperate with him.

Ahmadinejad and Mojtaba have long been at odds in their respective pursuits for greater control of the Revolutionary Guards and to further their influence in an effort to control Iranian commerce. Days ago, Ahmadinejad accused Khamenei's son of embezzling state funds.

The revelation that billions of dollars have been embezzled by various Iranian officials has caused the regime considerable embarrassment. This remains an ongoing and heated issue with just two months to go before the Parliamentary elections.
