Bridges TV Co-Founder, Muzammil Hassan, Receives Maximum Sentence For Beheading Of Wife

March 9, 2011 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Muzammil Hassan, a Pakistani born 46 year old television entrepreneur was sentenced today for the brutal beheading of his wife, Aasiay, receiving the maximum sentence for second degree murder, 25 years to life.

We remain mystified why such a cold blooded act could be defined as anything other than murder in the first degree.

Muzammil and Aasiay established the Muslim-centric Bridges TV in 2004 [visit website, http://www.bridgestv.com/]

The company claims that, "Bridges TV is the first channel of its kind that offers a broad range of lifestyle oriented programming that aims to foster a greater understanding between the West and MESA (Middle Eastern/South Asian) religions, its cultures, and diverse populations." To gather some perspective regarding Bridges' content one can visit the network's Top News stories on its index page, which carries a report on the Peter King hearings on American Muslim radicalization, which commence tomorrow. Solicited for comment on the hearings was the Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR] spokesman Ibrahim Hooper.

CAIR represents itself as being a moderate civil rights organization despite the fact of it having been embroiled in substantial controversy almost since its inception.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism, headed by Steven Emerson, had this posting regarding CAIR's troubling associations:

"... There's another letter circulating on Capitol Hill affirming federal law enforcement's belief that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is the product of a Hamas-support network in the United States. Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich sent the letter last month to four members of Congress who asked for details last fall on how CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror-finance trial against the Holy Land Foundation and its former officials.

He included trial transcripts and exhibits "which demonstrated a relationship among CAIR, individual CAIR founders, and the Palestine Committee. Evidence was also introduced that demonstrated a relationship between the Palestine Committee and HAMAS, which was designated as a terrorist organization in 1995." Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, and trial exhibits show the Brotherhood created the Palestine Committee. CAIR officials adamantly deny any involvement with either Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood. The Weich letter, however, shows that the Department of Justice has not wavered in its conclusion that the internal records it possesses prove a connection..." Below the Bridges TV interview, featuring Hooper, note his standard dissimulation and the interviewers apparent complete acceptance of the CAIR talking points.

Bias of his news operation aside, many observers of Hassan's trial noted a complete lack of remorse for his grotesque crime, instead playing the part of the victim who was abused by his wife, thus justifying justifying his actions - which included stabbing his wife 40 times before the ceremonial beheading.

Professor Phyllis Chesler, author of a piece in Arutz Sheva [see, Honor Killer Found Guilty, http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/9979] persuasively argues that Hassan's ritualistic murder was driven by Shari'as misogyny, calling the murder an honor killing.

"...Muzammil is not only a man, he is a male batterer, who is also a Pakistani and Muslim man. What this means is that he has been brought up to believe that he is entitled to whatever he needs, thinks he needs, or wants. Anyone who deprives him of what he needs or wants, is a dangerous "terrorist" enemy, especially if she is a woman?and a woman who wants to leave him exposes his failings to the world."

According to Muzzammil, he and Aasiya made a "contract" which included certain terms, i.e. that she never turn to the police, never threaten divorce, never report him to Child Protective Services. Each time she does so, he is being "killed," his world is "collapsing," his pride is wounded, his failure to control his wife has become known..."

In microcosm, the trial of Hassan and today's sentencing, provide a perfect, though tragic, backdrop for the start of the King hearings, which will hopefully further expose the threat doctrine known as Shari'a [the path], an all encompassing Islamic social/political code of conduct - which sees no boundary between the private and the secular - zero degrees of separation between church and state.
