CAIR Slapped Down Again - FBI "Hate Crime" Data Proves Islamophobia Almost Entirely Nonexistent

By WILLIAM MAYER and BEILA RABINOWITZ

October 27, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The FBI has just today released its annual statistical audit of "hate crimes," covering the 2007 calendar year.

The category of hate crime is a relative newcomer to a database which heretofore concentrated on hard data relating to the incidence of unambiguous lawbreaking activity, crimes such as murder, theft and rape. This study is part of the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program [UCR], a nationwide cooperative survey that encompasses 17,000 American cities and has been in effect since 1930, though not in this specific format.

"Hate crimes," were added to this index as a category, per legislation passed by Congress in 1990 and many professional grievance mongers look forward to the yearly release of these statistics because they are used as fodder to argue the wholsesale existence of racism in America.

Anyone familiar with the MO of the Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR, a Hamas friendly jihadi mouthpiece and unindicted co-conspirator in the ongoing Hamas terror funding prosecution U.S. vs Holy Land Foundation] knows that one of their tactics is to allege that American Muslims are under daily attack, a siege motivated by Islamophobia, forcing them into the fearful world of second-class citizenship.

These writers have extensively covered the myth of wanton Islamophobia, explaining the purpose behind such claims.

For example:

"CAIR is legendary for its campaign of legal intimidation using allegations of Islamophobia to bludgeon employers into Shari'a compliance." [source, Terror Case Co-Conspirator Mounts Legal Assault On JBS Swift's Nebraska Meat Packing Company," https://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=cairid=10.23.08%2Ehtm]

And:

"Much of CAIR's case, such as it is, rests upon polling data which consistently demonstrates that some Americans, and Westerners in general view Islam in a negative manner. That this would come as a surprise given numerous claims by the terrorists themselves that they are acting in accord with the Quran - Islam's revealed text - should hardly be surprising.

The CAIR website identifies five "opinions" that the organization feels are evidence of their claims.

"Islam is monolithic and cannot adapt to new realities. Islam does not share common values with other major faiths. Islam as a religion is inferior to the West. It is archaic, barbaric and irrational. Islam is a religion of violence and supports terrorism. Islam is a violent political ideology," [source, http://www.cair.com/Issues/Islamophobia/Islamophobia.aspx]

That some of these are at least in part arguably reasonable suppositions seem to be beyond the grasp of those casting such a wide net. Even assuming that a certain number of Americans harbor such feelings does little to substantiate the canard spread by Islamist groups that American Muslims perpetually must fear violent actions by their fellow citizens.

CAIR is long on accusations and short on solid evidence regarding the alleged wave of anti-Muslim violence and what documentation exists is primarily of an anecdotal nature.

In 2006 they claim that 1,972 reported "civil rights complaints," were made to the organization, yet the majority of these are unsourced, unproven and essentially unprovable. Many of these incidents are on the order of high school level pranks, heavy on rudeness, perhaps making a snide remark to someone they surmise might be Muslim.

Building their case upon such flimsy, lightweight evidence indicates not only a basic lack of honesty in the accusations, it indicates a malicious intent to advance a case for political benefit based upon conjured up factoids of dubious veracity. Accurately analyzed, that such relatively few incidents occur within a nation of 300 million seems to indicate the opposite, that "Islamophobic" incidents are actually both rare and when they do happen, are rather mild in nature. Given the backdrop of a worldwide phenomenon of unquestionably real terrorism - perpetrated by apparently devout Muslims - such a low occurrence of unfocussed negative reaction is surprising, a testament to the West's devotion to tolerance. CAIR uses its 35 offices [many of which are simply mail-drops] as a network devoted to creating the myth of anti-Muslim hate and violence. CAIR's legal team [the group is funded by Saudi Wahhabist extremists] is continually soliciting examples, most of which are fraudulently represented, in furtherance of this phony claim.

With this as background let's take a look at the 2007 figures as reported by the feds:

The total number of "hate crimes" committed in 2007 was 7,624. Of that number the following statistics were compiled on crimes whose origin was determined to be based on religious bigotry:

Religion: 1,400 total

Anti-Jewish 969
Anti-Catholic 61
Anti-Protestant 57
Anti-Islamic 115
Anti-Other Religion 130
Anti-Multiple Religions, Group 62
Anti-Atheism/Agnosticism/etc. 6 [source, http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/hc2007/table_01.htm]

As noted above, CAIR alleged in 2006 that nearly 2,000 Islamophobic incidents took place, yet a year later, with a bigger population base the FBI only could find 115 incidents in an unbiased, controlled study. That this miniscule number of cases took place in a nation of 300 million is, rather than serving as a damning testament to intolerance, actual proof of an overwhelming degree of racial and religious harmony.

As perhaps the lead American Islamist organization, CAIR was created to serve as Hamas' American public relations wing, with a goal of Islamizing the country and forcing recognition of Shari'a; all of its tactics flow from that mission statement. The FBI, by debunking CAIR's chief claim, that Islamophobia is rampant and expanding, has inadvertantly gone a long way in exposing the group's core assertion as mendacious, undermining whatever shard of credibility the organization still has.
