Iranian Leadership Preparing For ?Preemptive? Strike Against Israel?

October 22, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - - Haaretz is reporting [see,] that a top advisor to Iran?s Supreme Leader Khameni, Dr. Seyed G. Safavi has been spreading rumors behind the scenes that a cabal has been advising the Iranian leadership of the necessity of preemptively targeting Israel to stave off an expected attack by the Jewish state against Iran?s nuclear facilities to stop production of much feared nuclear weaponry.

Similar concerns have been voiced over the past few months by other media sources connected to Israeli intelligence.

Israel is known to be closely monitoring Iran?s nuclear program and Iran?s leadership is fearful of an attack similar to its 1981 raid on Saddam?s Osiraq reactor in 1981.

Safavi is highly placed and known to be well regarded by Iran?s mullahs. His brother, Yahya Rahim Safavi having been the leader, until recently, of Iran?s radical Revolutionary Guard, a major backer of Hezbollah.

Various Israeli politicians have been quoted as being in favor of striking Iran before it gains the technical capability which will allow it to create fission weaponry.
