January 4, 2007 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Keith Ellison, the first jihadi member of Congress [and parenthetically the legislative body's first Muslim] was today sworn in on an eighteenth century translation [the first English translation directly from the Arabic] of the Quran, demonstrating that his allegiance is to the Khalifate and not the United States?or even Minnesota's 5th Congressional District, the locale he purportedly represents.
Much is being made in the media regarding the origin of Ellison's Quran, which is extensively being reported as having been "Thomas Jefferson's" as if the author of the Declaration of Independence was a closet Muslim thus calling into question all of Jefferson's many references to God, slyly suggesting that perhaps Jefferson's model of the divine was the same as Mohammed's deity, you know the one who countenances the torture and killing of infidels, enslaving entire populations via dhimmitude, the chattel status of women and other peculiarities such as the stoning of homosexuals.
While it is indeed true that the book was in Jefferson's extensive library it is important to note that it was simply one of the more than 6,500 books in Mr. Jefferson's vast collection and on loan from the rare book section of the Library of Congress therefore making the supposedly increased stature accruing to Ellison's prop having been owned by a founding father seem a ridiculous ploy served up to a media obsessed with multiculturalism and perverse moral equivalency.
Just for the record, the two below quotes are taken directly from the Quran that Mr. Ellison used to swear his oath upon:
"And fight for the religion of GOD against those who fight against you?And kill them wherever ye find them, and turn them out of that whereof they have dispossessed you; for temptation to idolatry is more grievous than Slaughter?Fight therefore against them, until there be no temptation to idolatry, and the religion be GOD'S"
"They desire that ye should become infidels, as they are infidels, and that ye should be equally wicked with themselves. Therefore take not friends from among them, until they fly their country for the religion of GOD; and if they turn back from the faith, take them, and kill them wherever ye find them; and take no friend from among them."
As the translator of this version of the Quran, George Sale states in his explanatory notes:
"...as Mohammed gave his Arabs the best religion he could, as well as the best laws, preferable, at least, to those of the ancient pagan lawgivers, I confess I cannot see why he deserves not equal respect, though not with Moses or Jesus Christ, whose laws came really from heaven, yet with Minos or Numa, notwithstanding the distinction of a learned writer, who seems to think it a greater crime to make use of an imposture to set up a new religion, founded on the acknowledgement of one true God, and to destroy idolatry, than to use the same means to gain reception to rules and regulations for the more orderly practice of heathenism already established."
Sounds about right to us; just so Mr. Ellison now understands a bit more about the rather low opinion Mr. Sale had about his subject matter and where Islam ranked in his pantheon of philosophies and perhaps most of all, that the citizens of Minnesota's fifth understand exactly what they have gotten for their vote.
