Ninth Circuit Overturns Conviction Of Millenium Bomber, Ahmed Ressam

January 16, 2007 - San Francisco, CA - - The nation?s most liberal - and reversed - court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today overturned the 22 year sentence of ?millennium" bomber, Ahmed Ressam.

Ressam was caught by sharp eyed Custom?s Agent in December of 1999 as he attempted to cross the U.S. - Canadian border with 124 pounds of explosives in the trunk of his car.

In an effort to get a lighter sentence Ressam had provided a wealth of information against other terror suspects including his accomplice Moktar Haouari, 9/11 co-conspirator Mounir el-Motassadeq, ?shoe bomber" Richard Reid and the Algerian terrorist network.

Today?s decision reversed one of the nine charges Ressam was found guilty of and remanded the case back to a lower court.
