Will PM Netanyahu Allow the Pogrom-like Destruction of Yosef Chai Yeshiva?

June 21, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - It appears that without the personal intervention of PM Netanyahu, the Yosef Chai Yeshiva/Shul will be destroyed under the ruse of an alleged 11 year old work stoppage order.

The institution - deemed vital by locals - has been at the center of controversy including a brush with the IDF on Israel's Independence Day and efforts by yeshiva supporters to resist continued Arab violence.

"I met with the Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Yitzchok Shapira and the yeshiva director, Itamar Pozen. They shared with me the tzav harisa, the destruction order, and a package of documents proving their legal status (attached), and the fact that numerous departments in the Israeli government participated in the building of the yeshiva. How can we be illegal, they asked, if the government put in the infrastructure, if the government authorized the mortgage, etc." [source, Rabbi Pesach Lerner, We Cannot Let a Yeshiva/Shul in Israel be Destroyed, Arutz Sheva, June 15, 2010, http://www.israelnationalnews.com/blogs/blog.aspx/9]

Lerner is outraged over the idea of the building being destroyed stating, "The idea that Jews would destroy yeshiva/shul buildings under any circumstances is reprehensible. If a European country threatened to destroy a shul under the pretext of a building code violation, Jews from all walks of life – Orthodox and non-Orthodox – would demand that the order be cancelled." [source, ibid]

Barring extraordinary intervention on the part of the Netanyahu government, the yeshiva will be leveled - in a move befitting a pogrom - probably before the end of this month.
