Minuteman Founder Jim Gilchrist Calls For Gavin Newsom's Ouster
July 30, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Despite having been assaulted by one of San Francisco's "peace and love" types just moments before, the unflapable Jim Gilchrist, founder of the pro-border enforcement Minuteman Project, delivered a powerful and searing indictment of Mayor Gavin Newsom's immigration policies on the steps of City Hall this morning, demanding his ouster.
Prompting Gilchrist's appearance was Newsom's past declaration of San Francisco as a "sanctuary city," hence making it a safe haven for illegal aliens and tying the hands of local law enforcement, prohibiting them from cooperating with federal authorities in immigration enforcement.
The repercussions of Newsom's actions have been felt throughout the community, where incidents of gang violence have skyrocketed, culminating in the June 22 military style execution of a San Francisco family of three by an AK-47 wielding member of the Latin America's most notorious drug smuggling gang, MS-13.
About today's action Mr. Gilchrist said:
"San Francisco is one of well over 100 such cities in the country that allow illegal aliens to continuously hide in the shadows and remain insulated from the arms of justice and law enforcement...What happened to the Bologna family is not an isolated incident...U.S. residents are murdered by illegal aliens on a daily basis in every major city across the country."
Placing the blame squarely on Newsom's administration, Gilchrist concluded:
"The Minuteman Project will demand the immediate resignation of Mayor Newsom...It is too late for an apology from Mayor Newsom. It is too late to prevent the deaths of Anthony, Michael, and Matthew Bologna. But it is not too late to begin replacing all of our political governors in every city across America with people who will truly and sincerely represent and protect the citizens of this country. Currently, too many of them represent criminal illegal aliens, simply passing on as "inconvenient" any serious attempt to keep the United States civilized under the rule of law."
Protesting Mr. Gilchrist's appearance was the usual San Francisco rent-a-mob, comprised primarily of revolutionary communists wielding Che placards and radical open border supporters many of whom seemed unfamiliar with the English language.

A good case can be made that Mayor Newsom is indeed an unwitting accomplice in the MS-13 triple execution of the Bologna family.
The Sanctuary City movement has had one effect, to increase violent crime in every community which has endorsed it.
