Border Closures, Sure Sign Pakistan Is Not an Ally in War on Terror
October 5, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The recent closing of key roads in Pakistan which are lifelines really, used to transport supplies to NATO forces in Afghanistan is merely the latest sign that the Islamist nation is more foe than friend.
As we noted in Stratfor Afghan Study - Pakistan and the U.S. Exit From Afghanistan - Deeply Flawed "Hearing the juxtaposing of the phrase American ally and Pakistan in the same sentence should provoke serious concern among those interested in seeing this war concluded on grounds favorable to U.S. interests rather than to our Islamist adversaries."
Nothing proves this more than the Pak government's unwillingness/inability to stop the series of attacks being mounted against NATO supply lines. These developments seem to play into the narrative being given greater exposure by the new Bob Woodward book, Obama's Wars, which details the relationship between Pakistan's ISA and the country's jihadists, especially the Haqqani network.
That this might come as news to many DC types but is old fodder for those who have closely followed the rise and nurturing of the Haqqani network.
